Wiped out 9 Hard Aggressors by using Politics to face them off and an epic economy as well as a kick ass culture. Throw in a few Novaliths I let the pirates survive cause their so damn useful. I only had to actually take on one army cause I made the others fight each other and then finished them off. The last army I hit and ran killing their planets while distracting their fleet and then hunted them.

I won after 5 days of play (not non stop XD) without upgrading my Fleet Supply or getting any Military Research (Achievment FTW!)

I played a 12 hour long large (its, what, 58 planets or so, right?) random map against a single hard AI... I was new at the time, but it was epic... the computer got the upperhand quickly, and had at one point, had about 2x the planets I had... surviving was a challenge, let alone winning!... but the computer made a stupid mistake, and continued to increase his fleet supply... while I kept mine low, and with a fleet of 6 capital ships I managed to hault their advance at an astroide one jump from my starting planet... Eventually, building almost all capital ships, i increased my fleet supply to 820, with 16 capital ships... I love TEC capital ships... and slowly, very slowly, I began to take back planets... every one was a huge fight... with crazy space battles... but once I managed to take my 1/2 of the planets, I increased my supply a bit to build some smaller ships, and began to start taking over some of thier planets... after a bit, though, it of couse, like allways, became a mop-up job with about 8 novalith cannons on auto-cast... ya... thats fun....

Oh yeah add to mine it was a massive huge map (like 150 planets?) the biggest map and I was TEC

lol, u must have REALLY good computer!

i have a ridiculously powerful Pc, and i played a 150 planet, 5 star map, with 9 hard agressor enemies. i too made mostly capital ships and kept supply low so as to avoid losing lots of money in upkeep. i was playing as TEC btw. i had 16 capships, 6 kols, 4 sovas, 2 akkans, 2 dunovs and 2 marzas, a good mix i find.

the enemy player in my starting system kept sending massive fleets of light frigates and light carriers, this made for clay pidgeons against my massed cap ships ( i managed to get a Kol and a Marza to level 12, and all the others to at least level 8). i wiped out my opponent in my home system and captured all the planets. i then proceeded to fortify heavily any planet with a phase lane leading to the star or a wormhole, in other words, the frontier

then i just placed bounty on peoples heads and let em fight. i captured one planet in each other system and set it up with as many broadcast centres as i could. i maxed out culture research including foreign sabotage and insurgency (that really pissed off the Vasaari)

after all but two enemys were dead i maxed fleet supply and swept in, capturing almost a hundred planets in a few hours with very little resistance. i cud do this because the two remainging players started in same system and were busy killing each other, so i took full advantage in the abandoned systems, taking loadsa planets.

then, when the one enemy had killed the other, i maxed out my fleet supply with heavy cruisers and missile frigates. and swept in to finish em

start to finish, 24 hours 23 minutes, in four sessions

tell me how that's possible.  please.

probably a mod. or maybe a typo.

anyway, i had a 12 hour game on twin empires as vasari. about 8 hours in, i had about 10 planets, and another vasari (my ally) had about 25 (i like to turtle). also, the last surviving AI, as advent, had about 1500 fleet supply at one planet on my border. my fleet supply was maxed, and i sent everything i had against the advent, who, after losing half their fleet, retreated, and i gave chase with half my fleet. we ended up in a gravity well with most of the AI vasari fleet. i attacked both of them, and after 15 minutes of furious fighting, i smashed the AI fleets, leaving them with about 300 fleet supply combined, and only lost about 150 myself! the AI was never able to build up again, and i won easily

18 hour game, Hyperion's Gates, FFE me (Vasari) vs 3 AIs(one as each faction), one of which was hard.  I take half my system, the other Vasari AI in my system takes the other half.  we fight back and forth across a volcanic world, but I eventually win and start pushing him back.  then this big TEC fleet pops out from the star and takes 5 or so worlds before I get my defenses organized enough to even put up a mild fight.  I use RA to build a large fleet on  my side of the star - as my original fleet was still on the other side - and max my caps.  The two fleets both attack the Volcanic planet that I had been fighting over earlier, and blow the token TEC holding fleet to kingdom come, splitting their gains.  I ignore the planets  above, which luckily have no ships at them, and push them back to Porta (the choke point at the star).  after three assaults, I finally take the planet.  I stop my advance there to fortify my defenses, and the TEC AI makes four more huge attacks using their whole fleet, but I beat them back each time(by this point, I've maxed my supply and have 4 level ten cap ships, but they only send one cap with their fleet each attack, which is always the first ship destroyed).  After the fourth attack, I counterattack through the star and decimate their fleet at the next three planets, and after that, it is a piece of cake to take the rest of their planets.  I never saw the Advent AI, so I assume that TEC annihilated them.

3 week long game. I played about two-five hours per day.

TEC (ME) Vs. Advent Vs. Vasari

79 PLanets across 12 star systems. NO WORMHOLES. (I hate 'em.)

Incredibly long and very very very hard.

About half the game was just expansion and fortification, until i had 5 star systems, advent had 4 and vasari had 3. The galactic war began about a week and a half into the game. Vasari and Advent teamed up against me, and the first battle lasted for, i'm not joking, almost two hours. It started as a huge brawl over a gas giant, and at the beginning there were 29 cap ships, and innumerable smaller craft. Luckily, my computer is rather fast, so there was only slight lag. The planet was a stronghold of mine, with orbital defense platforms. I was winning, but then about an hour into it, a pirate fleet jumps in to raid the planet! At the same time, apparently the Advent/Vasari alliance shattered, and for the last hour it dissolved into a chaotic four way free for all. When the whole battle was over, i had only three of my ten cap ships left. My fleet had been shattered. I was at one eigth strength.

After that battle, there weren't anymore massive long ones, just a long hard slog to victory. Three star systems were completely razed to the ground by bombardments. Over the course of the whole war, around 50 cap ships were destroyed. Countless smaller craft. Most infrastructure was completely destroyed. By the end, I had only one star system, with scattered planets in the others.

I'd say if this were a real war, the death toll would have been in the tens of billions.

Long, hard war.

it gives creww counts in the book, so you can add up all the ships destroyed's crews as well as population killed

Yeah i was considering doing that

I did it once: small map, 15 planets 155,345 aprox. (I counted people that died to bombardment even if the planet was not completely razed. I lost, actually. After 8 hours of constant tug o' war I lost. Collapsed economy, happens sometimes when you focus too much on military maneuvers...

Well, I just started a game on a map I created with the galaxy forge. 10 star systems, 4 planets in each (and 2-3 gas giants randomly scattered) 6 factions. I reckon it's going to take quite a long time, it's going to be epic though. Everyone's going to have their own star system, safe and protected in corners, and fight over the middle star systems on the map. Going to be a huge battlefield right in the middle when the safe planets start running out.

Dudes!

Awsome tales!

Epic battles!

Ridiculosly long maps and games!

(and a high death toll in the end!)

Keep 'em coming folks!

(I got a question tho... can u play a "team" game?)

(I believe so, but im asking just to make sure)

its perfectly possible, just set it to locked teams.

got a big battle coming up, my fleet versus 3 Advent fleets focused on a single chokepoint.  I'll have to pull some real tricky maneuvers on this one.

Gl man

lemme know if you win!

i doubt it.  380 frigates and 7 cap ships, plus 70 strikecraft.  on small fleet size

I'll have to distract them, probably

gl anyway!

i downloaded a map recently called Big Blue. its epic

ten players, each with a eigth worlds starting system, two Terran, two Desert, two Ice and two Volcanic. overall there are 26 star systems and 266 planets.

The Ai players were set to Unfair/Agressor. i was TEc, i love their capships (i think they best). the Ai plaers all fought over the huge (80 planet) centre system, while i swept around the initially unoccupied systems at the edge. once i had the map surrounded i made peace with all but one player, found out where his ships and home system were. his entire fleet was deep within the centre system, twelve jumpsf and ten enemy strongholds from the star. i storemed his home system and wiped him out. then i moved on in a similar manner until it was just me and one Ai, an Advent, to fight over the centre system. this stage took me three days in elapsed game time

i had already taken all 25 other systems, but he had all of the 80 planets in the muiddle. he deployed his entire fleet at the star, and i arrived. by then i had my badass capship flotilla (8 kols, 2 akkans, 2 dunovs and 4 marzas, all level 10) and a max fleet supply of flak frigates and Kodiak heavy cruisers. his fleet came at me and i had all four Marzas use their missile barrage. man did that hurt him bad. almost two hundred Disciple ships and illuminator vessels destroyed in two minutes. i then focused me heavy cruisers and cap ships on his cap ships, blowing them away.

eventually, with his main fleet crushed, after a two hour battle (he kept streaming reinforcemtns, and a half dozen huge pirate fleets arrived as well) his fleet was broken and destroyed, but i had taken a heavy loss. three kols, a Dunov and a Marza were destroyed, the rest suffered heavy damage, and fifty heavy cruisers and 93 flak frigates lost.

i pressed on and took the five planets nearest the star and set up a base. they all turned out to be Desert planets for some reason. on each i built five frigate factories and five broadcast centres. by know i had all the reseach done so it was a bitch for him when my culture slowed his production rates, launched rebvellions and overthrew four planets. lol

i rebuilt my fleet and started a long drawn out war. it took me almost a week (in game time, two months in real time) to pacify the central system and subdue the enemy. he fought back, and he launched a massive strike at the Terran world Prometheus. his whole (rebuilt) fleet was their, but was battered once again by 4 missile barrages and thelarge numbers of bombers i deployed.

as i said, afterone week of game elapsed time he made a desperate last ditch stand around his new home world, a terran planet on the very edge. that battl;e took me three hours, as he had the logistics slots filled with two capship factories and four frigate ones, and he had massive amounts of resources to spend on new ships. i checked the logs at the end. to see how many ships i had destroyed

According to the stats at the end, between all ten players we managed to detroy 1,137 capital ships, 13,259 frigates or cruisers, with a death toll, just from ship crews, of over 750,000. if we add death tolls from planet bombings, it goes up to almost 900,000

epic or what

(btw i made a typo in my first post, i meant i got a kol and a marza to level 10, the 12 was a typo. oops)

My first multiplayer game was pretty memorable. It was 3v3 with myself as TEC on Random Large. Unfortunately, I had a terrible starting position, with only 1 Asterioid, 1 Dead Asteroid, a Volcanic planet, and an Ice planet, so expansion was miserable. My allies were also in bad positions, while the enemies were in good areas and quickly wiped out the two allies.

At the start of the game, the host forgot to disable pirates, and said 'Alright, no one place bounty. If I see anyone place bounty, I'll roundhouse kick them'. So of course, we all swear not to use bounty, until about twenty minutes in. My enemies placed about 2000 on me, which was soon followed by the host 'OKAY, WHO DID THAT!? I swear, I'll roundhouse kick you!'. So I had to deal with pirates attacking my asteroids and two enemies ganging up on my home planet. A Marza, a Sova, and two Kols were wiped out, though my strikecraft spam took out a level 6 Jarrasul and another at level 5. It's really glorious to watch tiny bombers fly out from the wreckage.

At the end, I was forced to surrender due to matters outside of the game, but I ended up taking quite a few ships out. ^_^

My most memorable game moment, hmm....   I was playing against 5 unfair AI's on a multi-sun map.  I had taken control of my home system and put the maximum of four starbases around the sun.  I was playing as TEC and all four bases were placed so their arcs of fire covered each other.  One also had the repair ability fully upgraded.

Late in the mid game, in jumps a player with a fleet worth about 1000 fleet credits, a half-dozen caps and a whole bunch of heavy cruisers and support cruisers.  My fleet was way to far away to get there in time.  The AI proceeds to attack my SB's and even with repair almost destroys one.  As the star base is gasping for breath and trying to survive, in jumps another fleet, again about 1000 fleet credits worth, but from another player.  I was playing with teams locked, so the second player comes within range of my star bases, but attacks the first AI.  The first AI quits attacking my SB's to defend against the second fleet, but without moving away from my SB's!

While these two fleets are happily ripping each other apart, in jumps a THIRD players fleet, with the same results.  We now have a thre way free for all fleet battle between AI's, all in range of my star bases, but with very little fire coming at them!!!  By this time, my fleet had was just one jump away from the star, so I held it there while the three enemy fleets whittled each other down, then jumped in and finished off THREE enemy fleets at once!!!  And I didn't even lose a star base.:cylon:
