Demigod count

Quick question about Demigod

Hi all,

I have just registered here on the forums and I'm thining about getting the beta over the weekend - hope I can get it in the UK, sure I can =)

Just have a question, as far as I can tell (from looking around the forums) there are 8 Demigod's so far. I was wondering if this number was going to increase at all or what is the target number of Demigod's Gas Powered Games were aiming for? i.e. are they aiming to have 20 Demigod's minimum by the time the game is released say.

Thanks in advance,

YLN

so far it's 8. there might be 10 on release, but that was rumours that have largely died down. GPG is however planning (read:what we expect, but not confirmed) to release some extra DGs after release.

It seems like 8 is the number to expect. Hopefully there are no massive delays for the release of content after the game is live.

Eight Demigods is the more solid of the two, but do not let this dampen your spirits when it comes to wondering whether or not you'd want to try the game. Likely you may be a DotA fan and are used to the 100s of character selection options you have, well instead of just providing 100s of premade, here you have 8 Templates you can customize to your liking.

Customization is more than just the tweak of the skill tree, there are several different ways in which you control your Demigod's growth in order to be the way you want it to be. That is the beauty of Demigod.

Thanks guys for the info. And yes I do play DotA, have been playing it since before IceFrog was the main coder for it, so yeah a long time lol. This game does sound very good. When would be the best time for me to pre-order it cause I know beta 2 is coming out soon, if I'm correct. And can I still become a beta player or is it too late, please can someone advise me on this. P.S. That is a nice guide OrleanKnight and is very helpful. Thanks, YLN

In order to take part in the next Beta Phase, I'd suggest you Pre-Order today or sometime over the weekend. That would be the best way to ensure your place in the Beta. They will card you and give you access the day they activate the Build, and they release Betas in the order in which they were recieved. So there would still be time to retract your order for a complete refund if you change your mind.

If you have problems accessing funds, I do not know whether or not they will allow people to access Beta 2 after the invites have been sent out. Considering they didn't do that for Beta 1, you may want to have your ducks in a row for this one. But as Mike said, they will have only these two Beta Phases, so on the other hand they'd likely just let people take part in the Pre-Order Beta from Beta 2's release until the game's full launch.

Further testing beyond that may be restricted only to choice community members. (Special Demigods and downloadable content)

Thanks agaiin OrleanKnight, I shall definatly register for pre-order later today sometime, then I'm guessing I just wait for an email and link with password to the page and download the beta 2? Assuming it works on Windows Vista.

Shame they are only allowing 2 beta phases, I guess that keeps the excitement though for when the game is finally released.

beta2 will have a few (or maybe even many) patches as had beta1. The numbers are just used to distinguish between

beta1 = engine test ; beta2 = gameplay and balance test and beta3 = final polishing.

BigOne is correct, throughout Beta Phase 1 we've seen several major builds distributed which changed the gameplay entirely. Making what felt as though it was 3 Beta Phases crammed under the umbrella of 1.

Yes Demigod works on Windows Vista, most of our players so far have been Windows Vista users. I suppose Stardock just naturally draws in the Vista crowd.
