Military starbases

I'm sure this has been covered a dozen times in other threads, but I can't seem to get the search to work at the mo.  So here goes...

I've noticed that sometimes when I build a military starbase and upgrade it to the nines, my ships occasionally don't pick up all the attack/defence bonuses that they should.  At first I thought it was something to do with my ship sizes, as I first noticed it when I had some medium ships in the area of effect that picked up the bonues, but some small ships I had left over from the initial phases of the game didn't pick them up. 

However, I'm now playing the campaign (finally) and my medium ships aren't getting any bonuses.  Why?

I use Military SB's a lot and I haven't seen that problem.  However, I do frequently get starbase defense modules mixed up with ship assist modules.   Did you double-check that your modules are Assist?  That would be the first place I would look.

Its possible you may have overlooked the fact that your ships have to have a value of at least 1 in any of the defence categories before it can recieve ship assist +defence.

Re searching the forums, any good search engine should support the site: option, so just adding site:forums.galciv2.com to your search parameters should narrow results to just this forum.

Not sure if they fixed it in TA(Hadn't built an array in it yet), but fleets would not show the correct values of their attack/defense boosts just by selecting them on the main screen. If you go into the fleet details/management screen though the correct boosted values would show up.

That broken search keeps luring people in. Need to just get rid of it since it doesn't work at all and put a sticky up on how to search from outside sources.

OK, didn't know that you need to have at least 1 defence before you can receive the ship assists.  That would also explain why my larger hulls tend to get the bonuses, as by the time I've researched the larger hulls I've started to throw a few defence modules on them. 

Oh, and cheers for the advice on forum searching.  I'll bear it in mind.
