Mid-West Confederation communication & recruiting thread

Mid-West Confederation communication & recruiting thread

It is my pleasure as a new senator of the MWC to congratulate all good peeople of fertile lands with incredible success that our empire achieved in the recent past.

We are not the fastest growing empire but the quickest to rise in ratings. Opportunities are excellent for new (and seasoned) players to make their mark on the face of Metaverse.

We are not asking anyone to defect from other respected empires. We are asking people of midlands (of North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, Japan, all islands) to join MWC. If desire to help a real and noble cause will regretfully make you leave existing empire so be it. Be strong in your true aligence.

We defeated G.R.O.S.S, others are shaking seeing MWC make it's way up.

Celebrate if you are an MWC member. Join us and we shall go together to the glorious future of the Mid Western Confederation.

(Pontius, you can do your alien racial scam and polute this thread with silly claims).

Fellow Midwesterners,

I am a humble and proud Emperor.
You have all played like champs and once again we are in second and hot on the heels of our favorite enemy. Idle, Plephart, kryofx, Zoshan what can I say. The empire would grind to a halt without the incredible efforts of you and others have put foward. You are gentlemen and scholars (not to mention some of the best senators and players in the metaverse). Long live the Empire.

The MWC Town Hall was crowded this evening. The hall was packed with angry people and Senator IdleProcess had to bang the gavel THREE times before people settled down.

IdleProcess looked at the angry crowd apprehensively. He did not know quite how to start.

‘This is an outrage’ yelled an angry man in the bag. ‘Look at what Peggy-Sue brought home,’ shouted a women clutching a red bandana with a Jolly Roger on it. The crowd looked in horror as she pulled out a plastic rapier and an felt eyepatch from a small, pink Stawberry Shortcake backpack. ‘Peggy Sue says that every kid in the school got these souvenirs as a gift.’

Another mother project holovid pictures onto the ceiling. ‘Look at these digusting pictures, what are these unholy animals?’ Pictures of kids petting wombats, emus, bats, and drop bears appeared on the screen. Gerakken smiled to himself. Implicated the Freedom Force in this incident had been a brillant move on the part of CypherPax that he would have to congratulate him on. The crowd got even angrier when they saw a kid petting a sheep rigged with explosives.

That did not compare to their reaction at seeing their children in the GROSS taproom hoisting tankards (they could not tell from the picture that is was only grape juice.)

‘How did this happen?’ someone shouted. A teacher meekly took the stage. “Well, Principle Black Smoke announced the trip this morning and said that their wasn’t time to send out permission slips. We thought it was strange, but we had a substitute teacher, Mrs. Pax who said the kids would be perfectly safe since her husband would be giving the tour. Mrs. Pax is one of us – she spent three years in Oklahoma growing up. We should of suspected she was actually an Eastern at heart. But we’re Mid-Westerners, we’re not used to not trusting our own.” explained the teacher.

IdleProcess was sick to his stomach. Principle Black Smoke? Black Smoke is a GROSS senator! He knew he couldn’t afford to show his discomfort. Plephart was clearly thinking the same thing and jumped in with a question, ‘Where is this principle, Black Smoke?’

Black Smoke’s secretary was an kindly, elderly woman. ‘Principle Smoke, went home sick just after the kids left for the field trip. He isn’t well frequently… has to go home to his clan, strange he doesn’t call them a family, so they can take care of him. His fits must be bad, because when he comes back he often has a pounding headache, is sick to his stomach, and his eyes look strange. He’s a brave man who doesn’t let his ailment get to him. I try to respect his privacy, but I hard him refer to his ailment on the phone as being ‘one heck of a bender.’ Anyway, he went home.’

Plephart had a sinking feeling that he won’t find Principal Black Smoke on the planet. He asked the secretary, ‘When did Principal Black Smoke become principal? I thought Bob Smith was the principal.’

‘Oh, Principal Smith had to go out of town to take care of his sick nephew, EBZeroMatrix’ so Principal Black Smoke was just the acting principal’ replied the Secretary. ‘I did think it was strange that EBZero came to the office to pick his uncle up when he was so sick and all. He didn’t look that sick, he was quite a handsome, strapping young man.’ She said and blushed. ‘But you can never tell with illnesses these days. Principal Smith didn’t look happy to go, but family is family.’

IdleProcess had regained his composure. ‘People, you need to stay calm. We understand this has caused concern and the MWC response will be to catch these Evil-doerers wherever they hide.’

IdleProcess and Plephart closely the concern and wondered how they were going to explain this G.R.O.S.S. incursion to these innocent farmers.

A few hours before the townhall meeting

“I call this meeting to order!” Idle hammered the gavel twice before sitting down. “Before we have our town hall meeting, I wanted us to get together to talk about the GROSS propaganda infiltrating our homes and to talk about our successful dupe of the Fellowships ambassador, Gengsta.”

“First, the GROSS propaganda. This rubbish has become more pervasive than MTV’s Real World and Jackass, combined! It’s ruining our children! Now I hold myself partly responsible for this invasion. I did after all sign little Julia’s permission slip. Next time I will READ the permission slip and deny it when a GROSS survey ship tour is the theme!” Idle slapped his forehead and sat back in his chair.

Idle began to speak and was silenced as Surther opened the door and walked into position and the head of the table.

“Welcome back emperor!” Yelled Plephart and Zoshan. “Glad to see you again my captain!” Idle said as he saluted and extended his hand to Surther.

“Glad to be back Gents!” Surther looked at JordanVMP and bowed, “And Lady.” He smiled.

Idle pulled out the head chair and pushed it in for Surther then sat down beside him.

Surther pulled himself up to the table and began to speak, “So where are we?”

Idle responded, “talking about GROSS propaganda and our dupe of Gengsta of the Fellowship.”

“Ahhh, the dupe was indeed a huge success!” Exclaimed Surther as he sat back in his chair. “I knew it would be hard to pull of but our crew did splendidly. I know how much effort it took to build that prop ship in dry dock and especially make it convincing.”

At that moment Idle’s cell phone rang, “Idle here…” Idle’s face grew pale, “I understand… Yes… Very well then.” Idle pressed end. “Seems as though another empire has formed. That was Kryofx, he just intercepted a transmission from a group called the Jedi Republic while passing through the Dagoba system. Although not quite a threat to our empire, a ‘force’ to be reckoned with nonetheless.”

The group fell silent, “He is our only hope… No… There is another.” They all recited in unison.

Congrats to MWC for reaching #1 again.
It is tight race at the top.

CypherPax stood sheepingly in front of Pontius. 'What were you thinking?' was the nicest thing in a long line of things out of Pontius'nouth this morning in regard to the episode with the MWC field trip. The only reprieve he got was interruptions due to the Survey Ship of Doom being rocked by MWC missiles.

Congrats on #1....

Ray, I joined MWC this morning. While I'm not exactly an empire sort of guy, it was just too tempting to bump them to #1. (Before my own metaverse rank falls; I am beginning to appreciate the fun in playing small universes to ~7000 points rather than large ones to ~15000)

Being an empire sort of guy, TJL1, I make mental notes of active players/forumers that are without affiliation. I would certainly have tried to recruit you had I had a chance to talk to you on the forum. :)

When I saw the MWC flag on you, I sorta guessed that MWC would now be first. In this Metaverse, movements are frequently determined by new recruits so it can be very volatile. And fun!

Do go tell the folks over the MWC website where they hang out about your contribution. The Fellowship is a mere 2-3k below MWC so the #1 spot may not last. :)

Good morning MWC and good morning TJL1! Welcome to the MWC and thanks for joining up. :CONGRAT: And congrats to you MWC for hitting the number one spot for the second time in our history!!!
:CONGRAT::CONGRAT::CONGRAT::CONGRAT::CONGRAT::CONGRAT::CONGRAT:

TJL1, I hope you enjoy our website http://idle.thehueys.com/midwest and that you help us cultivate our newfound cultural identity which some of us have been trying to expound upon here in the forums. We like to keep our strategy talk and general MWC matters over in our personal forums and reserve this GalCiv comm thread for recruitment and role playing. I think you'll be a great addition to the team TJL1, congrats for joining and have fun!

Good show! #1 again, for another day in the sun. But, if you were to slow down and fly at near the speed of light, you might stretch that day out longer... :)

Log Entry Metadate 7182180 Senator plephart onboard the MWS Liberator

Its been a strange past couple of days as the balance of power in the metaverse has shifted dramatically. First the empire of the Fellowship had acquired some powerful new previously neutral members and surged in the metaverse rankings to rival both ourselves and GROSS. Then in a shocking development, a full fledged senator of the GROSS empire, a pirate, jumped ship and joined up with the Fellowship, momentarily securing their hold as the most powerful empire in the metaverse.

With all of this chaos unfolding around the Fellowship and GROSS a previously quiet member of the metaverse called TJL1 heard the call of the people from the MWC and decided to join their ranks in the name of Liberty. The systems owned by TJl1 were happily added to the ranks of the MWC and a new chapter of galactic domination in the name of freedom had begun.

But the chaos was far from over as I cruised towards the GROSS border through what I thought to be neutral space. Systems that had previously been uninhabited or simply uninhabitable were teeming with life….but it was a strange type of life. Sensor readings were off the scope, and then the message.

Welcome to the Freedom Force empire. Some of us were from southern lands (ANZAC empire); until great forces of nature forced our evolution and development into something....beyond human.

We call for superheroes from all corners of the galaxy - gather to us, Wonder Women and Mystery Men, to fight in the cause of justice and freedom!

Develop your inner X-man, awaken your dormant superpowers and rally to the cause!

Freedom Force: saving humanity from the scum of the universe!
End of quote

They were certainly a power to be reckoned with, though not strong enough to vie for domination of the metaverse yet, they could pose as a threat to the sanctity of the borders of the MWC. Mutants and superpowers, it just wasn’t right, it just wasn’t natural. The poor people of those planets, where there were mutants with superpowers there were bound to be mutant mistakes, freaks of nature, oversized drop bears and wild space wombats.

End Log

So plephart raced back to MWC space to warn his people of this new threat and to encourage his fighters to push on and to secure to MWC atop the pirates, wizards, undead, jedi, and mutants of the metaverse.

Congrads on #1. Enjoy it while it lasts. :) Now that I am not of the GROSS empire, I think what we all need is more peace and love in the galaxy. I can see the day when members of MWC and GROSS waltz hand in hand to polka music, while sipping the sweetest of wines.

Don't worry be happy everyone! MJ anyone? :)

plephart, surther, kryofx, idleprocess, Zoshan, and all MWCers regardless of geographic location:

As a fellow (former?) Midwesterner, congrats on #1. I thought I'd get this in fast, as you're currently in front by about 700 points and I might not get another chance for awhile.

And a further congrats to you, Zoshan, for figuring out what that little "Shift" thingy does on your keyboard when typing in your nickname. If you guys do decide to jump on the theme empire bandwagon, how about the e e cummings empire? :D

Now, fellas, put down those pitchforks...'twas just a little JOKE.

The ring lovers WERE in 1st. But thankfully I had 2 games stored up awaiting submittal. I've pushed us ever so slightly ahead of the fellowship. I hope my fellow MWC crew can widen this gap.

PS. The MWC website and email system was down due to a DSL outage in my area. There were reports of a very short, old, gren man in the vicinity of the SAC box and, again, more drop bear fur was around the scene. :notsure:

And don't stop with the role-playing.

Are there any other orators in MWC (other than Zoshan)?

Yep, they definitely got some tenacity this time. Wave after wave of missiles. It is an Omega plan, just like the fate Sol itself was at stake. Besides, no one cares about a nuclear winter in space! :)
