Can not download patch...

I may be flat out stupid but I can not get the patch to download!  Bottom corner of impulse says "download impulse update paused" out of the gate.  I click on update under Sins and "please wait until Impulse finishes connecting to install an application.

It should not be hard to download a patch but I have restarted and tried everything but unistalling Impulse or Sins... is this a known issue?   :typo:

Sounds like Impulse is trying to update itself and that got paused somehow.. I don't think Impulse updates show up in the Updates tab but you can check, there should be a subgroup for current downloads so you can see if you can resume it. If that doesn't work, I guess the quickest way would be to uninstall Impulse and install it from here: http://www.impulsedriven.com/impulse_setup_full.exe

It should install the very latest version and bypass Impulse trying to update itself so you can jump straight to downloading the Sins patch.

I'm not sure what could've caused the Impulse update to pause itself, though.

I can't get the update either, but Impulse is flat out broken from the log-in screen, always returning the message, "server not responding, check your internet connection".   It won't accept my login, nor new account, nor even email me my account info...nothing.    It has always been broken since I installed it a few months ago.

I just tried reinstalling it using the "full" install version of Impulse, but I get the exact same error message as before.  The message is absurd, since not only is Impulse properly listed in my firewall "allowed programs" list, but I routinuely open ports to host Sins online and via Ironclad's matching service.   My internet connection is fine.

What makes it worse is there is no alternate way to get the patch, since the download section here directs you to your Impulse downloader...which doesn't work.

How am I supposed to update Sins from 1.05 to 1.1?  There is no way that works that I can find.

Sorry, I can't help with that one. Your best bet is to email support@stardock.com

Impulse has had some issues today and it's quite possible that it's a temporary server problem on their end, I don't know.

I had the same problem, nothing would fix it (cleared caches, uninstalled/reinstalled/etc)  Finally I had to download the "full version" from the alternate download links on the page you download impulse from

When I finally did that, it connected and downloaded the Impulse update properly

However, it will still not download the sins patch, it sits at 0% and "preparing download" - I can't say its leaving me with positive impressions

Your situation is atypical.

In Impulse, click on the questionmark int hte upper right and then the Error log and teh connection test.  paste it here.

This worked for me and only took about 10 minutes.

That's what my error log is saying for me on the three(3!!!) times I tried to download v1.1... Something must be really wrong somewhere down the line...

They have said that sometimes AV apps block the traffic from Impulse.. have you tried temporarily disabling your AV while downloading?

Yeah i honestly dont know why they expect you to be connected to broadband internet with all your firewalls/AV's down just because they have a horrible patch program. Heres an easy way, get a torrent program, get one of your computers to seed the 700meg patch and bam cost free patch deployment that actually works. I honestly dont play SoaSE much anymore this patch drew me back in to get in some sessions but seeing as me and half the people around the world cant get the bloody thing to work i guess i wont be playing SoaSE. You should get a vanilla computer and OS and hook it up to the internet with no firewalls and then try to fix it because boy is it fun! oh whats this? its infected a hard drive partition and no matter what i do i cant salvage the HD?
