Update not save game compatible?

It seems that I can't load my savegame in TA after updating. Is it correct that the update is not savegame compatible?

If so, please post such info along with the feature list so I can make an informed decision as to when to update. I got the feature list in an email btw.

Edit: I can start a new game, but not load my quicksave.

Ever since version 1.1 that has been generally the case.

The more changes made, the less likely that saved games will be compatible.

A line in the change log would be nice but I think not being able to use a savegame after an update is pretty typical.

not really, it really depends on the game

X3 savegames are mostly compatible between versions for example
