Suddenly just had a thought
Bear with me here.
Now i've been thinking about the three mini expansions coming out and how they they would develop the actual storyline of the game, and I had a little bit of a distressing thought. We've all been hearing about the 4th race in the game which is chasing the Vasari, and of course this has led to speculation that in an upcoming expansion said race would be available to be playable, a bit of a wish that many gamers and myself included would have been thrilled at doing.
However, something has come to mind, with the fact that each expansion will release certian new content that will be able to be played independantly or together, where does that leave our 4th race when it is finally unvieled? If this 4th race was playable we would easily be able to find out about it from any files included in each of the new expansions, such as what it's starbases would be, new audio files ect, since to play as the race it wouldent make sense to disallow the faction all the features we already payed for. nor would it make much sense on the develepor's part to hold back a playable race along with its diplomacy features, entrenchment package and such for whatever this campaign may become int he future, otherwise they would ahve to develop allt his data and send it out along with teh expansions as a seperate DL, and I can see where tehre would be quite a bit of hassle with that, multiple registrations and impulse errors and so on, eccsopecially if people dident buy the previous two mini expansions.
So my thought is that the Vasari race's nemesis by logic must be implemented in game as another AI controlled entity in a similar fashion to the pirates, where a player's interaction with it is done with either defending against it, running away from it, or what have you, but it will not in anyway be a playable race, which really is a shame. If you think about it, this really is the only way the big mystery will have to be uncovered, honostly i'd be lying if I said I wasent a bit dissapointed.
Or the devs could just pull something and completly keep the vasari's menace a complete secret and never even mention it throughout all three expansions, pretend like it never happened.
In which case, I fully advocate the pitchforks and flaming torches mob treatment.
