professional levels assigned

now I'm curious. these levels (citizen, apprentice, etc.) appear to be assigned by WC, so what is the specific criteria that is applied. I have uploaded eight blinds and participate in the foums (mostly sniveling but some offering of suggestions) and I am rated a citizen. I notice others with far less uploads and minimal participation being rated apprentice.

I mean my existence is not dependent upon being recognized for my efforts but if I had some goal that I wanted to attain it would be nice to know how to accomplish this and what criteria I need to comply with.

To become an apprentice one needs to be contributing to the skinning community in some way.

well now, this make perfectly good sense. I hope you're right and that changes are afoot.

Word of amateur advice here:

You do not have to be a skinner. If you can skin....great, keep on doing it.

But if you can't, at least you have to be active around the forums and help people and be funny and do something to show that you're worth it.

Long story short: Just impress the mods ;)

Well I'd like to think so but there has been doubt raised here and there.

oh oh, I guess my contrary stroking feather ruffling approach to life won't be helpful on that one.

It's not as easy if you are not a skinner, but being just a skinner isn't enough either.  Did that make sense?

I always look at the promotions each month and non skinners do get promoted.  You might want to say that it's more about being a good community member and being active in the community that gets one promoted.  At least that's how I see it.

You see it correctly.

In that order, they do.

But mostly, I just use the booze first, so I don't really get to use the cookies and coffee ;)

Wimpy, It took me four years to get my first promotion. It will come, if you are an active member, in good standing, be as helpful as possible, and send Zubaz Lots of Karma....   Oops! Did I say that last part aloud?

Moderators wouldn't be where they are if THEY didn't participate in other skinning community websites. I regulary visit and contribute to 4 others and not as regularly half a dozen more. Taking all the mods together that's quite a few sites where you can be noticed.

Many of the Wincusto admins/mods are members of 'all' the skinning sites....even ones long gone...;)

My nick travels with me.  :sun:

I'm just too old to be using different nicks, wouldn't be able to sign into anywhere because of bad memory. :O

Probably not.

There is a question of whether it matters or not all that much what your rank is here.  I think that if someone is lookign to be promoted then they are not ready.  Whether someone is a skinner or a tech whiz or just a helluva nice person who's been around since before God they'll be noticed by the mods sooner or later and be promoted.  And most of the time they'll be surprised because tehy don't do whatever they do for the promotion . . they do what they do becacuse it's part of who they are.

The coolest thing is that, in this community of skinners, everyone else gets to reap the benefits.
