multiplayer? what multiplayer?

Hello all... I had just started playing Sins of a Solar Empire multiplayer this last February shortly after it came out.. I got to play it for a month before I went to Armor OBC, and lost my good internet connection.  Now I get to my post, get a good internet connection, and it appears the multiplayer community has disappeared?  At least open games seem to have.  Now I have read people say that when patch 1.1 comes out things should pick up.  I hope so, but when something starts to fall of like this, it is quite troubling... especially since 1.1 has been so long in coming.

If you wait for 10 min in lobby, a game will eventually start.  It depends on the time and day as well.  I do agree that when v1.1. comes out, you will see a lot of people on multi-player again.

well so true

i hope this is the last game this company made. it was the buggiest game i ever bought.

i stopped playing at the begin of july and wanted to wait for the 1.1 patch which was announced for mid of july. now its mid of october and no 1.1 yet.i havent played since and probably wont play again. if stardock would be a company in my country i would have demanded my money back or go to consumer protection.

and the biggest joke is this gamers bill of rights. i mean stardock. are u fu.king kidding us? you want to mess with us? u wanna drive away the last players too?

a lot of people complain that EA makes all the games now and got something like a monopol. i would pay 20 bucks more for the game if its made by EA. IT WOULD WORK AT LEAST

fuck stardock.

yeah i know, dont use the F word. but what do if there is no other word with the same meaning?

1.1 patch which was announced for mid of july.

The 1.1 BETA was released back in the summer; we said then that that first beta would last at least a month or two, due to the magnitude of the changes and the small dev team. We're now on the second beta, and nearing the final version of this very significant update.

Conte, I think DT is going to move over to beta 3.  I'll let you know for sure soon, but come out and join the fun.  There are still a lot of fun games to be had.

Are DT gonna stay there, or move between???

Well, it looked like we were still in v1.05 last night.  It seems no one else thought about moving to the beta, so I guess I will leave beta testing to the SP guys.

Also, it is very difficult to move from the beta back to v1.05 (you have to uninstall and reinstall the game), so whereever we go, is where we'll stay.

You could archive 1.05 before you upgrade How :)

I've got beta version right now, and i want to play online... except i don't see anyone online? Should i downgrade to v1.05?

How?

Right click on the game in impulse and choose archive application. You can then just restore that archive to return to that version later.

Hey How,

I played a game of 1.096 the other day, and it seems totally stable and otherwise ready for prime time.  The one drawback is not many people seem to be online yet.  It isn't a bad time for DT to move over IF you can get some of the other clans to move too, so there will be someone to play.  I'm in New York for a week, but maybe will catch you online when I get back.

re: other posters...

Yep, this seems like a good place to comment how much I like Sins....despite a few multiplayer bugs that might have been exacerbated by no one being able to set up their firewall (not an issue for 1.096!).  I keep checking up on it months after launch to see how the new patches are coming and how the expansion will look.  Yep, sure got some good mileage out of my gaming dollar.  Glad that little team at Ironclad was willing to innovate the game, and glad those Stardock guys backed em.  And they are still supporting the game!  Sure am glad it isn't Spore.  In fact, I don't feel marginalized by game studios or even angry at the world in general!

Congratulations! I wish I was there yet...

Yeah, I think I am going to try coming over to the beta.  We have been implelementing house rules of late to make sure the game is balanced (i.e., no RA, limited use of repulse and subs, and no scuttling neutral extractors.

Ok, I am in the Beta group now.  Got my first 2v2 in.  My only wish is that I could chat with people in v1.05 to get them to switch over.

For a game that sold 100's of thousands the lack of players playing open games online is sad.   Went online a few days ago during prime time and had 4 players total online.  Next day 12.......

Dude, the beta NEVER has as many people as the offical version.  Try using v1.05, there is almost always 100 people on.

They're playing a game.  It should tell you how many there are online.  If you click "Join a Game", it will tell you how many games are in progress.

As far as I know, clickng "Join Game" will show you how many games are being formed and waiting for players--it won't show you the games that are actually being played.

Unfortunately, most Sins players only play the game offline in single player mode, so it has (undeservedly) low online multiplayer player counts.  Hopefully the 1.1 patch will increase the player counts.

I love this game for multiplayer, but i mostly play Multiplayergames over direct connection or lan with friends...

I do like the multiplayer of this game more than any other game I have. I have noticed the very low amounts due to the wait of 1.1. I was online yesterday and i noticed about 38 people on their, so that means people are comming back becaues of Entrenchment which probably means v1.1.

to be fair this game is innovative and is the best game of this type i have seen. I like it a lot. I am however very concerned with seeing NO ONE ever on the multiplayer lobby. every time I have logged in I am alone there. The game is dead before even really getting started? I mean you can still find lots of people on diablo battlenet so many years after, so when a game has no one in its lobby, ever, so soon after launch there is a problem. Which saddens me as it is really a very good game. I never really believed a real time space empire building game could work but this one does. Why does no one play it online?

Why doesn't it get played online?  There may be several reasons:

1. People got tired of being unable to host games without having to adjust router and firewall settings and people got tired of being unable to find hosted games (as a result of having few people who can host).

2. People got tired of the minidump crashes.

3. A great many of the people who play this game have never considered playing it in online multiplayer.  I'm not sure why.  Perhaps they're just cowards or ninnies who enjoy comp stomping the AI.

Honestly don't care to argue about something that's not going to change.
