Using Ally commands.

Ok I know how to use them, it is just the fact that they don't seem to do anything.

I try to do these when I have 100% friendly status with another race. What will happen is when one of my planets come under attack by enemies and my fleet is nowhere close I try to use the defense command for my allies to send a fleet and defend my world. Just to re-state, I have 100% status with my ally, we are in a peace treaty and have all the other treaties made. My allies fleet will arrive in system, but it will just sit there instead of attacking the enemy fleet bombing my world.

I guess one possibility could be that my allies are allied with the race that is bombing my planet. Now I havn't had the chance to try this is 1.1 beta, I've only seen this happen to me in 1.5. So if this was ever a game problem it could have been fixed. Anyone know what could be happening?

They are allied with the attacking fleet. Play a game with locked teams and you'll see that it works.

ai's ally to much:"/  the command works 25% of the time in singleplayer and  works 90% in multiplayer.. since most of the games are locked anyways....

The AI isn't real smart, to put it gently.  Come play the real Sins game--online multiplayer with and against real human opponents.  If you come online you can make friends, enjoy the company and camraderie of human teammates, and you'll have more interesting games and a greater challenge.  Just click the Ironclad Online button.  Heck, you can even play comp stomps if all you want are human teammates to play against AI.

I'm really thinking about online multiplayer, but I'm waiting for Stardock to get back to me with my account information, I can't remember it.

Just play with locked teams if you want a 2v2 or FFA.  Otherwise you have to make an ally ASAP or the AIs will triple team you.  Fortunately, Ironclad said part 2 or 3 of the upcoming expansion will be revamping this part of the game.  Hopefully the pirates will be made more interesting as well.

I would like to play this online, but I'm waiting for 1.1.  I want to have some actual unit choice instead of spamming LRMs.

You know, it is possible to play against the AI in single player and have allies and locked teams.  Just uset he locked team settings and put one or two of the AI on your team, etc.
