Wormhole Tech....does Nada?

Is it me or are the Wormhole techs pretty disappointing. If nothing else I think that the Tech "Controlled 4D Wormholes" should give you +50% to +100% Propulsion. Get those ships zipping across those Gigantic Maps.

I agree but 4d wormholes is just a way of extending the tech tree to make it longer to get to the end of a tech victory.

All these 'wormholes' techs make me believe that, early in the game development, they probably intended to have these techs enabling players to create their own permanent wormholes (would really help on gigantic maps, isn't it?).

They dropped it later on due to the complexity they faced with teaching the AI's to build and use those. They still kept the techs, but stripped all effect from them.

Of course, all this is pure speculation :)
