phantom PMs

Since the forums are being fiddled with now, I thought I'd mention this...  Something odd that's been going on for a long time, is that my stored PMs always lists a lot more than I actually have.  For example, at the moment I have a total of 15 PMs in all of my folders, but the total is listed as 34 stored.  It's been like this for many months now, but I cant remember how long exactly.  My stored PMs are always listed about 60% more than what I actually have.  I dont think I'll reach 100, even with this bug, so I'm posting this more out of curiosity than real concern.  I'm wondering if the devs are aware of this.  Here's a screenshot to prove I'm not nuts or missing something.

A while back I used the "empty all folders" to fix it, but it didnt turn out to be a permanent fix.

Yeah, I've noticed the same discrepancy. I'm not sure if the phantom PM's cause your Inbox to become full and future PM's to bounce or not. I usually use "Empty All Folders" when I get close to the limit.

I *think* the issue is your Sent Items list. I can't really test it out because I've just recently emptied my folders but the options in the sent folder are only "Remove Sent Copy" which does move the messages to the Trash folder but IIRC doesn't correctly decrement the post count. There may also be the same issue with the "Move to Trash" function used from the Inbox. One thing I have noted is that the "Delete Forever" option in the inbox seems to work reliably.

Another piece of funkiness that I noticed earlier was that I was logging in on various Stardock sites and I did notice that on the Sins site I had a 50 PM limit as opposed to the 100 PM limit everywhere else that I noticed. Not sure what's up with that.

Actually, I've recently gained an appreciation for the difficulties that the web team faces when trying to integrate so many sites that all seem to partially overlap, each of which seems to have grown up independently with slightly different functionality. It's a wonder that anything works. Here's probably a partial list of sites that I know about. Most are listed in the Site Map under Stardock.com but the Sins site isn't even listed there. Who knows what other orphan sites are out there.

Still having problems with this issue.  I have 15 messages stored, but it's currently being recorded as 45/100 allowed messages.  So it's now triple the actual amount!

Has anybody looked into this?

This isn't even the GalCiv2 Site Issues forum so the only one that's probably noticed this is Kryo and this isn't something he could really do anything about.

Even the GalCiv2 Site Issues forum doesn't seem to get much attention from the web team, however in defense I believe that the entirety of the web team currently consists of only Andrew.

I've posted a thread about the bad GalCiv2 Wiki link in GalCiv II Site Issues that has received 0 response. I've been considering elevating the lack of response to the site issues forum as a problem in the Forum Issues forum but I haven't really thought the problem warranted making a fuss over.

However, site specific forum issues do in my mind deserve at least *some* minimal level of attention paid to them so perhaps it's time to elevate the problem.

In any case I do believe this PM problem is the same on *all* stardock sites and probably should be reported in Forum Issues.

If you ever get around to reporting this in Forum Issues you could ask why there's a 100 message limit at every Stardock site *except* for www.sinsofasolarempire.com where the limit is only 50 messages. I haven't ever tried to access my mailbox there when I've had over 50 messages there but it might be iinteresting to try.
