Cap ships built starting with a fleet

Was wondering if you can change the way fleets are built in the game? By that I mean if you can remove the build option for all combat vessels in the frig factory, then make it so that each cap ship is built starting with a full fleet of preset frigs and cruisers.

Each cap ship should have a fleet preset that is filled with appropriate ships both supporting and attacking. The build times should be pretty long and cost very high.

So is that possible ? Anyone working on something like this?  If so please let me know :)

Edit:

This is probably a long shot.  But can you set it up so that frigs built in a sector cant leave it?  If so it could be set where the frig factories can still make frigs, and just make the cap ship/fleet cost a command point but not fleet points.  This way you can still build ships with the factories but only for planet defence.  The fleets would be the mobile strike forces, used to capture and plunder,so obviously would need to be pretty big.

I have no idea if any of that's possible, but I'm leaning towards not.

Besides, if you lose part of a fleet, how would you propose to replenish the forces? Or would you just have to build another entire fleet?

Build 1 of capital X and instantly receive 2 cruiser A, B, C, 1 D, 10 frig A, 5 B... etc... tough to do. You can edit the entity files and modify the slot cost for all ships/structures.

Basically a tough thing to do. The Capital ship would likely need something like Return Armada to "spawn" ships to itself, but that would require a bit of tweaking research and modifying the "Return Armada" in ways far beyond me. Having "built" ships locked into where built probably impossible to do -just don't move them :) .

If it can be done, it would begin in GalaxyScenarioDef.

In theory, if you added the ships you wanted into the definition for each capital ship, it might just create them too. However that depends on if the program will allow multiple entityDefName's for each designName.

If not, then you could try defining a fleet like militia planets forces, and then assign the entityDefName of the capital ship to the fleet definition name.

Thats off the top of the head. I've no idea if the program will allow it or not.

lazerblade, you've inspired me... I've added some nice stuff for 7 Deadly Sins. You sir will have a planet named after you.

In the ability for returning armada, there is a spawn ship command.

Might be useful to try that and see if you can use that anywhere else than in ability files. Eg. if the file that spawns the capital ship can have spawn ships commands added, then when the capital is spawned, the others might also.

Afterthought : One could perhaps create an extra ability for each capital ship, that spawns its own fleet.

Ok, you wish to spawn fleets that would stay in system...  Why not try to modify the fighter/bomber/mine field option?  Then you have fleets of ships that act like a fighter screen but use the stats and/or options of the ship(s) in question.

Now, no, this would not create a massive fleet right away, but it could be used to create a small militia force within a gravity well that could not leave it.  Would this qualify as something you were after?

My only concern with this is the amount of actual ships you would be working with if you had two fleets enter the gravity well on top of what is already spawned there.  You could possibly triple the amount of polys you are working with.  Something you might wish to think about.
