Why does everyone get angry when I ask for money for techs?

You must be missing something out.

1) You select the tech on the left hand side you want to sell
2) From the right hand side you select payment Amount and Number of months. If the text in the box in the middle (under their portrait) stays green, then they'll accept. If it goes yellow, you'll be refused. Just maximise it until you get the most outta them!

Ummm, you are playing with the most recent version, aren't you? I can't remember if the first version had the text colour change, it's been so long ago!

Actually, I didn't know about the changing colors! Now I do, thanks to you! But, if they refuse or accept, either way, is it considered tribute?

Yeah, the value that you get will appear on the income section under tribute. But I've not had them get mad at me for it, after all they're getting something in return. If they refuse, then you get nothing, as do they. One thing I've never done, is demand money like the Drengin do. Must try it! Actually, just played a game as good and I'm due an evil one......

Are you running the latest version 1.03A?

If they accept your offer it doesn't change relations, I believe, but I'm open to correction, that if you keep making offers they don't like, relations deteriorate. On the plus side, if you give them stuff free, relations improve, always handy if you need to improve relations so that you can ally with them.

Don't forget that when you have the money slider out, you can mousewheel it for faster results.

I usually have civs become quite friendly with me when I sell them a bunch of tech.

I have trouble getting exact numbers on the top slider. It's like I can't wipe out and start fresh. Maybe they can fix that?
