Speeding up rendering?

Speeding up rendering?

Is there a way to speed up rendering without getting a new computer? I asked the guy at dell If I could install different (better) processor but he said they don't recommend it.,. Any ideas? :)

for some reason nobody has asked this and it's probably the most valid question.
A. What are you rendering?
B. What are your current render times?

Thanks very much guys & for the link CarGuy1, very helpful, thanks..I'd like to try vue 6 infinite I have Vue 6 but the step up would cost a pretty penney. I just don't know if I'd use it enough.. Do you know of a better price than the $500.00 it would cost to upgrade? :)

It's that Bergs wallpaper I 've done in Vue 6. It will only let me go as big as 1440 x 900 any bigger and it says out of memory. I guess the 4 gb's of memory just isn't enough.. I've stopped every process I could and tried but it still won't go.. I like it the way it is and don't really want to change any materials. I think it's the water material & the iceberg material, translucency and some reflectiveness. The sky is just standard So I'm getting the new computer and hope it will help.. Not just that other things as well..When it rendered it only took a half hour or a liitle more..

One way would be to save the scene, close Vue, load Vue, load scene and render.
