Interest

I wish I could remember that event this was but one of the choices gave me "10% higher interest rates". Does anyone know what even I mean? What, if anything, does higher interest rates do to an empire? I figured it probably meant economics since production is called manufaturing in some events and culture is also called prestige and influence since I'd never seen interest mentioned anywhere before this even popped up.

The "interest rate" ability supposedly decreases the cost leases when you purchase items. I have never had access to the ability myself (are you using a downloaded event?), so I don't know if it just cuts down the duration of the lease or also affects the monthly payment.

I've had that event recently (as in yesterday) on a fresh install of Galciv. So, there were no mods in the game. Don't ask me what the event was, I wasn't paing that much attention!

I just found the event in the files...

"Cut out the Middleman! An increase in your Interest Rate Ability will decrease your payments on pre-purchased ships."

Maybe I need to take the luck pick some time.

The "Interest Rates" ability definitely works. It doesn't reduce the initial outlay of cash, the % decrease is applied to the amount of months you have to make payments for.
