This game seems to be less complex or equally so to the original.

Gain: More detailed candidate creator, three new scenarios, three new operatives, few new issue

Loss: Fewer tv shows, fewer candidates

It is strange that there are any losses from the first game, and the fact that the endorsements are the same is wierd.  Is this worth my money?  I already have 2004, so anyone that can help me decide i would be thankful for.

The ability to create custom candidates make the game very replayable.  It's worth $20!

Can I play as Mike Gravel?

ther3alsyler: do you need sound to play this game

I play without sound most of the time (since I like to play while watching TV.)

I've been having quite a bit of fun running on the Cthulhu/Kona ticket.

Love the new version.
My only disappointment is the election night, which is very quick as you just see states rolling one after the other.
After 21 to 42 weeks of campaign, more suspense would be fun - like computer announcing projections, some states too close to call, etc.
There could be still be the option for the "short" election night for those who want the results quickly.
Is it something that can be added in a next release?

This is a great idea and I agree!

I agree also. Make it slow like it was in the old "President Elect" game. You could check out the incoming popular vote and the game would also 'call' the projected winners but, they sometimes were wrong in real close votes, which was cool. You could also speed it up if you preferred. That would be fantastic if possible.

That's exactly it - like the old "President Elect" game.
Wow! I did not expect someone else would remember that game!
