Dark Avatar, Twilight of the Arnor, or both?

Hello all,

Some of you know me, some not, but anyway since the beginning of time I had problems with getting GCII.  And it has come to that, while everyone had Dark Avatar, I still had Dread Lords version. Now, it seemed alright and all, but then Twilight comes and now I'm 2 expansions away. I decided I should just buy it off the Internet and save all the effort.

Problem is, although I play for the modding and such, the history and the game story is not less important, and to be honest, when I had Dread Lords I didn't fellow the story much as well. Though I heard the humans are gone and the Drengins are taking over, what sick humour is that? :P (jk)

For conclusion, there are some packs you can download, Twilight, Dark Avatar, or Twilight *and* Dark Avatar.

What do you guys recommend? And I need some serious answer so I won't go spill my money just like that.

Thanks,

-MU

I can't check the prices on the bundles right now (purchase page seems down for me) but I'd say to definitely go for the Expansion bundle (DA & TA). I really enjoy TA as well do others, and I'd hate to tell you to get just DA and then you decide to go 1 further and need to shell out more money than you could have if you got the bundle.

You can't play Twilight without Dark Avatar. Twilight adds a lot more than story (I've never played any of the campaigns, and honestly couldn't care less about them). The improvements to sandbox mode are so massive and extensive that Twilight is basically a sequel, I think you'd probably enjoy it and the expansion bundle would consequently be very much worth your while.

...especially since you've expressed an interest in modding. TA, aside from having unique techs per race and all sorts of other fun goodies, also comes with editors for maps, scenarios, tech trees, components, and a few others... a total of 6, I believe.

...plus, who can argue with the requisite massive AI updates? :D

Hmm, so getting TA and skipping DA you guys say? I'll think of it.

You can't skip Dark Avatar. It's a requirement to have it installed to play Twilight.

You could "skip" it by never playing it, but if you want to play TA, you have to buy both expansions. The expansion bundle option is probably the best way to go for you.

Is the expansion bundle still available? I can't find it anywhere on Impulse, and the purchase link on the main site is broken. I have Galciv2:DL without either of the expansions. The $15 difference between $45 for the expansion bundle that was advertised earlier and the $60 it would take to buy both expansions individually would definitely influence this decision. Thanks!
