How long do think the Simpsions will last?

If you know my last post "will America always be a superpower?", I decide to make a more light hearted post. How long do think the Simpsions serise will last. I think it will last as long as matt geroing is alive.

It will last for a long, long time. The thing is darned near being as American an institution as the Rugrats is.

Probably a long time, even though it's been on far longer than it should have been already. First few seasons were brilliant, but the last 10+ years have been horrible. It's stale.

On a side note, I do find Family Guy funny, but that, too, has probably run its course.

Think of it this way...

In its original episodes, the Simpsons was only funny to those that lived through the Cold War. Since then, they have cnosistently succeeded at keeping their humor up with the times. As you said, until Matt Groening should kick the bucket, I see no reason why they wouldn't be able to continue doing just that.

It should have stopped about 10 years ago, but I see no sign that Fox is going to abandon its cash cow until it stops giving milk.

You're a dick for being sadistic and starting political threads that I can't help checking, and then being satirical.

When they finally do end it i'd like to see the last show age them to what they would be had it been a live action show. You know, Barts 24 and just getting out of prison for the second time. Lisa gave up studying to become a stoner in here high school years and now lives in a trailer court with three kids. Homers a mutated freak from an accident at the plant that he caused. Marge is in the sanitarium after finaly exploding from all they years of holding in her anger at Homer. Maggie has been long gone, Child protective services came and got her.

Well, if you want something more in-line with the real world, it would go something like this...

Homer causes a nuclear meltdown at the plant, then turns around and sues the company for allowing him to hold a job when he's incompetent. Makes buckets of cash in the settlement.

Bart flirts with the bad boy/gangster lifestyle, but ends up cutting several million-selling albums and finally dies of an overdose while touring in Asia.

Lisa goes to university, dabbles in alcohol and drugs and eventually winds up in the country growing her own organic food and doing a brisk internet mail-order business selling her 'special crop'.

Marge divorces Homer after the settlement, takes off with most of the settlement money, and ends up as Monty Burns' love slave somewhere on an island in the Caribbean.

Maggie, as the sister of the famous Bart, and abandoned by her parents, becomes an instant celebrity, is hounded by paparazzi for most of her teenage years, can't handle the fame, and bounces in and out of rehab. Everyone shakes their head and wonders how it could all have gone so wrong for one so young and with everything you could want. She eventually straightens out, publishes her memoirs and through some shrewd business maneuvers, locks down the rights to the Simpsons episodes in perpetuity and, filthy rich, fades into obscurity.

In the words of the famous Michael "Squints" Palledorous,

"The Simpsons will last FOR-EV-VEERR...FOR-EV-VEERRR..."

PS. If you don't know who that is, Google "The Sandlot"

Family Guy is a rip off of the simpsons

Family guy has some funny moments but most of it is extremely immature random thoughts with no purpose.

The writing of the Simpsons is still solid as it always has been. Not every moment is funny but you are bound to smile through every episode and laugh a few times as well (which is as good as any other show on TV). It may be stale to some but it's also comfortable and familiar as it mocks the things in life we all resent.

Long live the Simpsons!

The movie was pretty good. Not as many laugh out loud moments, but still.
