Blah Maps not working Blah

Damn I must be stupid

Ok here's the deal, I've read over and over looking for posts and you keep telling us to put the maps we create with galaxyforge in the galaxy map. I do. but every freaking time I load the map it's auto defeat.

Program Files/Stardock Games/Sins of a Solar Empire/Galaxy is the directory I'm putting the maps. That's where all maps are. The first one was a big one with 4 or 5 stars with 5 planets each. So I said, well, I should just create a new one, and save with what I got there, and see if it works, nope. then I follow the tutorial, EXACTLY, and still do_not_work.

So am I a retard or what?

Yes the maps are version 1, I do have the patched game, and yes I have the latest GalaxyForge.

No... It just doesn't work all the time for everyone. Apparently, one must have a magic computer or a secret decoder ring or something. I didn't get one of either, so my maps are always messed up too.

Read through the GalForge primer, towards the end there are some possible fixes. I myself no longer make maps, and consequently no longer play. I enjoy the creation part as much as the play part, but have little time to actually dig in and mod. The GalForge was just enough to let me play a little and keep me interested.

I know, just one guy and all. Someday they'll fix it, and maybe I'll play then. Who knows ???

Please try with this map and these instructions

One of the people testing was having the same problem but was able to fix.

If you get this map working then you should also get your own ones working.

You can also check you text file against this one.

Ok, new updates.

After playing around, I figured out the source: Vista screwed up the game after updating.

It turned out NO MAPS WERE WORKING. Not even the ones that came with the game, nor the random generators. So, after reviewing some other posts about Vista being terribly stupid with the Program Files folder, I re-installed the game outside it, updated it. Tested some maps, which worked, then reinstalled my mods, tested, worked, then re-downloaded the Galaxy Forge Tool, made a test map, worked.

So without further ado, I recommend those who have Vista, are running 1.04 or below and can't get maps to show up or work, Re-install SoaSE outside the program files folder.

Now I gotta figure out what dumb coding Microsoft used for installation of programs within the program files folder....
