need sample ships for practice

Would anyone be willing to share with me a basic ship or ships you have used in your mod so I can tinker with it in Blender?  I am looking for something in .obj or the like so I can try my hand at exporting to xsi format and then into the mesh file for use in the game.  I am not a skilled 3d model maker here so I need some very basic vanilla ships so I can "practice".

Windexglow, this person has already stated that they don't have 3dsmax. An SOASE importer for that program will not help. Not everyone has or likes 3dsmax, especially when Blender is such a powerful and free program.

GCFL, in the event that the models use some sort of skeletal or point structure, the obj format will not carry over that data. Instead, the 3ds, dae, ase, x, and a couple of other formats will preserve that data.

Thanks for the file info. Thats useful info. I will keep trying to find some samples. I did not realize it would be so difficult but people are busy I guess. In any event, I would still appreciate something in the aforementioned file types if someone can spare the model/time. Thanks!

I am not sure IronClad would appreciate conversion of their meshes, to my mind they would have provided a tool to do so and also you have to keep in mind they are likely to have plans of there own about modified designs of their own ships.

If you are a fan of StarTrek have a look at this site where you can download .3ds meshes, make sure you credit the author though if you use them.

TFL, good point. I did not mean to imply I wanted just the game ship graphics...really just any old basic model to take a look at. The link you provided is perfect. I am disecting the ships in Blender and carrara pro now and have some ideas on my first ship. i will post something up when i have some models. Again...thanks again.
