Converting .mesh

I am new at modding...just really wanting to tinker but I do not know how to convert the mesh files into my model program of choice.  i have carrera 6 and blender.  can someone offer some advice on how to convert or open the models in one of these programs?

Come on guys...show me some love. Is there anything out there to explain how to import and export models in the game or is this just common knowledge?

Dude it doesn't sound to me like you've read the modding guide and supplement IC published, check out the stickies at the top of the forum.

The only thing not in the manual that might interest you is that you need 3dsmax to import an existing SoaSE mesh.

Dude, I did read the manual and did see the 3Dmax info but I guess I was hoping that I did not have to have 3Dmax to import an existing mesh. 3Dmax handles several different file formats as do other graphic apps so I was hoping there was some sort of conversion to a .obj file, etc. but I suppose I do not have the correct apps.

Anyway...I appreciate the info. I will just mod the data files and not worry about new models.

Or you could just create your own and shove them through xsi

The modding guide does not go over GCFL's problem and using XSI isn't going to solve it either.

GCFL appears to be requesting an example ship mesh file saved in a different format that Blender can read. Obviously you cannot import a .mesh file into Blender without some sort of converter. However, you could open an .obj, .dae, .3ds, .x, .xsi, .ase, .lwo, and a few others in Blender. It looks like he's requesting a sample working ship file...something that he can tinker with in Blender as well as export to .xsi, use the converter tool to change it to .mesh, and then view it in game. Just one working ship in a couple different formats would serve as a perfect example.

ZJBDragon worded this much better than I. He is correct. Thanks for the clarification. :)
