Auto Attack the Poster!

This hasn't happened to me (yet) but I figured I'd pass along a big thumbs up to all the people who feel the need to
attack other people on this forum for asking simple questions.

I bought the game because I was excited about it, and I still am. I love it. But man, I've spent the last hour or so reading through these posts and what an eye opening experience to the complete stupidity of "gamers". From people asking about console releases to Mac requests, people who are GENUINELY INTERESTED in this great game have to get stomped on for not being cool enough to play how YOU see fit.

Bravo. You're all very "hardcore".

I'm sure you have also been able to discern where and when posters have been given "the what for" because the answer to their question(s) is in a sticky and they simply haven't given the effort to peruse the forums and instead opted for the "post-and-I-better-get-an-answer-dammit!" method.

thanks,

the Monk

Yeah, I think the_Monk has the right of it. While there are some that are probably unfairly treated harshly, many more just can't be bothered searching for the info before posting (I haven't been on these boards for long, but it seems every second day someone is asking how to take control of neutral asteroids - and the_monk has an excellent guide stickied in the technical forum on how to see/connect-to/host servers and yet time and again people start a thread asking how to do it).

So yeah, sometimes it's unfair, but many times it stems from frustration at people just not wanting to try to help themselves first or making demands that can't possibly be met by the devs.

Also, despite what your teachers said, there's both such thing as a dumb question, but also dumb statements, and simply dumb people.

It only takes one R.I.F. participant to spoil the forum...

Emphasis mine.
Bravo. You're all very "hardcore".
End of quote

You've pretty much wrecked your thread's message by being just as assumptive, if not insulting, as the people you point out. Not all of the forum members are that way - not even close.

Athough I'll certainly acknowledge that some of the replies are rude and boorish, and it's usually by the same bunch of people, some of the questions or the "rules" that the OP's try to impose on their threads are just as rude and boorish.

I'll add to the_monk's post that there are a great many posts that are civilly and nicely answered, even if those answers were obvious or recently already given. I start getting annoyed when the same poster asks two or three different questions that are clearly documented in the manual or answered on the first couple pages of these forums with a thread title that is very clear - they're just trying to make others do all the 'work' for them.
