Questions about the Tech and Improvements editors in TA

   
 I was very excited anout the idea of the editors for TA, and I have one question about the Tech and Improvements editors.

I wanted to know about making tech and improvements for a custom race, and if I will be able to give all of those techs and improvements unique names specifically for that race.

Like for instance, I want to call all of the beam weapons Devastators, and each type of beam weapon would just be a higher level of Devastator, like a Laser would be a Level One Devastators, Laser II would be a Level Two Devastator.

And as for Improvements, just give them unique names that I make up tailored to the custom race or races I make.

Will I be able to do all of this with those editors?

Guess so... and in fact, the actual 'self-hand-written-up' type of editing can already do such corrections -- all it takes is thorough knowledge of the files structures and how the specific taglines react. The TA_Editors will simply ease these tasks a bit further by providing a comprehensive interface and a number of options which all needed to be done manually (and the hardest way) before. :)

Yes. The current racial tech trees use XML and are referenced to the 'master' tech tree file. You can put changes under specific techs in the racial tech tree that will override the master.
