I'm thinking of buying Sins as Digital Download, but I've got a few questions

If I buy sins as digital download, can I download and install it on two computers? My brother would like to play as well. Now I'm aware that we probably can't both play online at the same time, but what about Single Player / LAN Multiplayer?

Also how exacatly does the installation work, does it come with a client like steam, which always runs in the background? And I assume I can redownload the game whenever I want in case I reformat my HDD or something. Could I also make a backup to CD / DVD?

1) Yes you can both play together in a lan game with one copy. However if you like the game it would be polite to buy two copies. :)

2) After installation you do not need to run the client like steam. Stardock central is just used for downloads and patches and registering your game it does not make online checks each time you play.

3) You can both download as many times as you like and also archive the game using Stardock central.

Also you could do what I did and buy game + Box then you can use the online downloader but still have a box with DVD.

Also be aware that the version of Sins on Stardock Central is the Collector's Edition, which is why it's more expensive than the boxed version in stores.

I didn't understand why the Digital Download version would be more expensive, so I bought my copy on Amazon. Not the Collector's Edition...  (:(

Buy two copies!! it's the only right thing to do, we need to pay for what we use. we can't expect great games when no one wants to support them.

it's a truly great game!

Because the digital download is also the Collector's Edition :) Instead of getting a disk and posters, though, you get them in digital format (mp3s and pdfs) ;)

So I'd have to install Stardock central on both systems? I'm just wondering how it works with the patches. Anyway thanks for the answers. Yeah, I'd like to buy the box as well, but since I live in Europe I don't feel like paying extra just to ship it across the pond.

I got game + box here in uk and all told it only cost a measly £35! With € to $ rate being what it is the game would cost less than a night out drinking!

Alcohol is much cheaper in Germany, 35 Pound wold be around 25 beers. Quite a lot for one evening :D
The digital download is just fine. The shipping cost for the box is so high, i could print the manual 10 times on HQ-paper ,burn 3 DVDs and get a shiny box, to put it all together, instead...
In the end the manual and the box is nothing but garbage for which i have to pay ;-)

£23 for the online version :)

Bargain considering this is the CoD4 of it's genre (IMHO).
