Adding more ability / buff levels

Is it at all possible to add more capital ship ability levels?

I tried messing with a few of the **buff and **ability files, but as soon as I put a single level more in the buff file, the mod fails to load.

So the question is: Is it at all possible to add more levels to abilities? Any pointers would be helpful..

I have changed the per level xp requirements and correspondingly the per level gains - since it seems to be impossible to add more levels, but I would like to add 2 few more levels to abilities to allow for more capital ship specialization.

You can try though. It's kind of neat seeing the game slap you in the face when it starts up. :)
