Official (Unofficial) Thank you Iron Clad and Stardock Thread

THANK YOU!

I just wanted to say thanks to Iron Clad and Stardock for this wonderful game. I've been playing it for the last several days whenever I have a chance and it has continued to grow on me. When I first got the game I liked it, but I felt that I'd made a mistake. It felt generic and a little bit boring, but that was really my fault. I find as I get older I am less able to accept new games that kind of shoot outside the box and it takes me longer to come around. After playing through several games with all the races and several different sizes of galaxies I've gotten a really good feel for the game. I'm not saying I'm a master of it, I'm just saying I've seen most of what the game has to offer on the surface.

One thing that I've noticed is that the more I play the game the ways I find /to/ play the game. The challenges in built into the game are a great way for the devs to force you to explore different ways to play. Last night I played a small map and only used capital ships against the normal AI (I'm not good enough to take on a hard AI just yet; P) I found it to be REALLY different from playing on large maps with several AI and using all the ships. IT was very tense, very fast paced, and I had to really use the capital ships to their full potential. For example I was in a battle with two capital ships on my side vs. his one Kol battleship and several cobalts. I noticed I was going to lose the battle so I used my colony cap to slow down his Kol and made my other capital ship flee. Using this tactic I was able to draw back both ships without losing either of them and come back later to win. You just don't get these kinds of moments as often when you're playing with the full fleet. The computer AI Was very smart and tried to thwart me at every turn, and it never ran from me once (Why should it, it could have beaten me based only on numbers) With the use of pirate raids and hit and run tactics I was able to force the AI to give up, (never seen a game where the AI gives up before. I've played previous games where I totally owned the AI with a giant fleet and they never gave up even as I bombed their last planet) At any rate I really want to thank the Devs for making such a great game and I want them to know that not everyone is here to complain! Keep up the good work and keep up your spirits. The proof is in the copies of your game sold, not in the loudest voice of the most disappointed customers.

SO! The point of this post is to so thank you. If you agree with me, that Stardock and Ironclad deserve our thanks then please sign your name to this thread and say thank you! IF you don't agree with me then please, go else where to complain!

I'll sign. Thanks Stardock/Ironclad for treating me like a person with a brain and not spoon-feeding me with a campaign. I found the tutorials to be helpful without being pendatic. I've been playing a lot of random maps and have only recently been getting into the scenarios. I agree with Serondal that they present some strategic and tactical challenges one may not find just playing random games. I beat hard AI 1v1 the other night, so I'll soon check out multiplayer and get wtfpwned there for a bit. I have spent as much playing time getting a feel for what works for my playing style as I've spent on entire campaigns in other games. Is this game for everyone? Hell no! Is this game for me? Hell yes!

So, thanks again, guys. I'm having a blast with your creation!

Always bump these threads. I've gotten at least 5 people in my gaming clan to get Sins as well.

I'll say it: Thanks!

It's certainly a fun game and I'll be playing it for a while. I've definitely gotten $40 of value out of it.

Agreed. This is a really fun game.

I think it's greatest strength is actually in the ease of it's UI. The icing on the cake is that your ships aren't run by idiots. They can handle themselves in many scenarios without the player having to constantly babysit them. And when the player does take over management of the battles, it is actually enjoyable and non-tedious (no fast clicking required).

I especially like how the bulk of the game strategy revolves around building the right kinds of ships/fleets and sending them to the right locations at the right time. The way all of those variables come together is intuitive and fun.

Thank-you for a brilliant gaming experience!

I must say, I've looked around for just the right kind of 4x game for some time now (yeah yeah, RT4X...whatever) that could be just the right kind of game for me...
Galactic Civ, Star Wars Rebellion, Master of Orion (3), few others (that i can see on my shelf from where I sit)... but I must say, none of those other games managed to bring the sort of 4X that I really yearned for.

I was always comparing inside my mind to my old game Ascendancy (which I am looking at fondly still up on my CD rack right now, though I don't have a machine old enough to play it anymore!).

When i first fired up Sins and played a couple of games.. i was just like... Yes.
Finally, i had found it! Only a 1000 times better, and in so many ways.

Coupled with the sheer capability for modification, I am not only extremely pleased with it as it is, but excited about where it will go in the future.
(Even in ascendency, there were things that I really really really wished I could hack into and change that really bugged me at times... fleet size based on planets owned!! come on! How is that going to scale up).

So I thank you deeply.
My wife.. not so much.. She is enduring my love affair with this game... heh.

Having been a long time fan of the Homeworld series I was a bit skeptical of another "3D" RTS, but when I began playing the game, fell in love with it almost immediately. Although it is a completely different horse from Homeworld, it exceeds the grandeur scale, and gives you more than just a small sized fleet to manage. The biggest disappiontment though is the lack of a story mode for the game, but thats it. Other than that,

The best (goodbye nightsrest) Space strategy game i played since Master of Orion II and Homeworld. And that is saying a lot in my opinion. Worth much more that the money i spend to buy it. And on the side i like the Stardock philosophy of how to make good games :).

Cheers all you lovely ppl.

The direct dev support and lack of DRM would win me over any day... but in addition to that sins is just a completely amazing, totally addictive strat game. I'm hooked even worse than when starcraft first came out O_o. I'm glad i bought this game while I was at the start of a vacation... otherwise I don't think I'd have a job anymore... something about that unshaven, sunken-eyed, falling-asleep-standing-up look that doesn't appeal to most employers... I'll never understand why...

With the additional(and speedy) work in progress on the game I have no doubts that this game will be around for a long long time. Until you good fellows kill it with sins 2.

Thanks for the great game :) There aren't many RTS games out there that can get me away from my shooters and RPGs. Well done. Looking forward to checking out future Ironclad developed games.
