Resource Asteroid question

I have a quick question (and after searching for a couple days, I can't seem to find anyone else complaining about the same thing!)...

In 1.02 games with high resource setting, Ice/Volcano planets provided 4 crystal/metal asteroids, colonizable asteroids provided 2 crystal + 2 metal, space junks, gas giants, etc provided 2-3 (or even 4!) random resource asteroids, regular colonizable planets provided 3-4 resource asteroids, etc.

Now in 1.03, you have the option to set economy speed to high, but nowhere can I find to set the resources high. Is there a way to enable this? If not, will Stardock consider giving us this option in 1.04 as the entire group (about 11 of us right now) that play every Fri/Sat night...well...we aren't really happy that this was changed.

If it won't be an option, can these resource asteroids be modded back into the game by us, the users?

Thanks for any replies.

hrmm....no one can give any comments on this? I'm the only one who has a group of players who hate the lack of resource asteroids (or maybe we are just too stupid to know how to get all of the resource asteroids back to 1.02 levels...?)

If you guys pretty much play just between a circle of people. Come to agreement about mods. Changing resource/process/logic/tac are all in each planet enity file. Download one of the mods on the site and just grab the planets none are modded yet usually and then just tweek them to best suit you. You can even make it more simple by only modding the planetterranhome.enity to get things at a better pace.

I'm with you, A_G - I miss the low/med/high/random resource option. I tended to keep it on high, just to move things along (without actually speeding up the game). It also had me using the black market dynamic more than I normally would.

Anyway, I also hope they bring it back in 1.04. Yes, we can jack up the economic income rate, but it still doesn't bring in the same amount of resources. If nothing else, I think planets looked a little cooler with 3-4 asteroids floating around instead of just 1-2.

yep, even with the new settings in 1.03, the lack of asteroids really kills the game for us.

More importantly, after playing 1.03, we realized how much we LOVED the market in 1.02...within 15 minutes the price of crystal would be up around 800-1000 credits per 100 because all of us (AI included) would be buying 100 here, 100 there to complete early labs or research etc.

Then at other times during the game, I'd go to buy some crystal and open up the market and say WHOOAAAAA as crystal could be up to 1300 credits per 100 and I'd yell at everyone "WHO THE HELL IS BUYING ALL THE CRYSTAL!?" heh

most times the market though would have crystal at 300-600, which is more than acceptable to me.

Jacking up the income rate...you are right...just doesn't seem to do the trick (and let's be honest, there's nothing like a 3-4 asteroid Space Junk or Plasma Storm etc that can give you .95 crystal/metal rates while two planets you own right next to it are maxing out at .47 and .52 because of loyalty (being a ways from home planet). Or getting those 4 metals or 4 crystals on volcano/ice planets.

The only thing I didn't like was that the AI would never capture them (and still won't in 1.03).

I don't want the devs to abandon either changes...I would simply like them to give us the option again to change resources themselves like in 1.02, not just resource/income rates like 1.03.

Here's hoping it comes true as Friday approaches (we usually spend most of Friday and Saturday getting some great games in since we are all old and have to work or worse, go to college *at 34 years of age haha*)

I agree that they should bring back the resource astreroid option in 1.04. It made the game more interesting. I also liked the old market system somewhat better than the new one. In one of the games I tried in 1.03, the metal market crashed, but the metal was still around 300 credits per hundred. It did like nothing at all. Also, even though the higher prices are so-so, it would have been maybe easier to put the price inbetween the old and new, and have the price actually increase when you buy crystal. I have seen the crystal stay at barely 600 for the entire game, even after buying tons of it.

I kind've enjoy the new market system, though I still don't quite understand some of the finer points of it (being able to put up x-hundred units of metal/crystal at y.z% the normal price - huh?).

Yes, it was very nice being able to capture four resource asteroids in space junk, and I also wish the AI would make greater use of that mechanic. I've seen it capture "free" asteroids before (in 1.02), but not to any large degree.

I too would like a return of the option to change the number of resource asteroids. It just feels like too few in 1.03, even if the economy speed option makes up for it a little. My colonies just FEEL less productive now.
