Your camera sucks. Fix it!

I just bought Sins, and I'm already disapointed. The camera system is an excercise in frustration and it constantly ruining th game for me. The free camera never does what it's supposed to -- right clicking on something only works one third of the time, the other two thirds of the time it either does nothing, centers on something completely different, zooms out to the solar system, or focuses on some area of empty space. Also, whenever you zoom out the camera decides to focus on something else, be it a plant, ship, asteroid, or empty space.

What's this you say? Use the locked camera? Well, there's a little problem with that as well, as there is no way I can see to center the camera on an object. In a game with the kind of scale that Sins have, the ability to center the camera on an object is pretty much required.

So there you have it, I'm forced to choose between the most broken, buged, and annoying camera system in history, on one that is missing a vital feature. Needless to say I'm annoyed, and regret spending money on a game that can screw up such a small but all important thing so royaly.

The complaints you have are pretty much completely unfounded:

- The camera is not buggy in the slightest, holding down the right mouse button allows you to rotate the camera in whatever direction. Mouse wheel zooms in and out, "snapping" to a nearby object can be turned off, but usually zooming in open space doesn't trigger it to snap to anything. Scrolling to screen edges pans the camera.

- Tried the spacebar? Perhaps you should :P

In short: learn how it works before making a post like that.

Sound to me you need a more responsive mouse if the right click isn't working, Either that or make sure the connection between the the mouse and the computer is clear.

I'm really astounded by the problems you are experiencing.

In my experience the camera will focus where your mouse pointer is pointed, whether it be a planet or asteroid or empty space. I zoom in and out with the mouse wheel.

When I right-click and hold the button I can rotate and angle the galaxy as I see fit. Although, to be honest, I usually play from a top-down perspective.

To focus the camera on an event you simply have to hit the space bar.

Try it again and see if any of this works for you. It may take a little getting used to if you are unfamiliar. Is there another game you are coming from that offered different camera controls? Perhaps one you are more accustomed to?

Or maybe it is a mouse driver issue? Is your setup anything out of the ordinary?

lol..this guy has justed raged about something that is absolutely nothing todo with the game and all to do with his mouse.

You say you can focus on anything-How is it the other 100,000+ users can and you cant?

Why is it that only you and you alone is complaining about the camera? I have not seen one other person comment on the camera or the mouse movements.

I find that you comments are unfounded and your just complaining because you simply cant play the game.

I have to applaud the level of constructiveness in the OP topic:

"Your camera sucks. Fix it!"

As others have said, it's more likely a problem on your end rather than the game itself.

lol this guy is one in 100 000 indeed, sure the camera system is "confusing" at first, but it's the best damn camera I've seen in any strategy game period.

I wish ALL strat games used the same camera controls, games like the command and conquer series would greatly benefit from it, as would hundreds of other games.

I wont walk you through the camera controls since there's a manual, a tutorial and a bunch of other posts(mainly in this thread above me) who explain in detail how it works.

And please! Show some respect and etiquette. Before telling the company straight that "their camera is broken" and just blatantly ordering them to "fix it", make sure other people actually think it is broken. Last time i checked, all gaming magazines be em online or on print seem to LOVE the games camera system and your the first user I've seen complain about it on the forums.

So I conclude this, there are one or a combination of three things that are broken for a fact in your situation:

1)Your mouse
2)Your mouse drivers
3)Your ability to use a mouse

May as well be blunt with you if your blunt right?

So here are my suggestions to fix all three problems, respectively:

1)Buy a new mouse
2)Update your drivers
3)Play some reflex games online or find a "how to use a mouse" tutorial.

That is all. Good day!

Anyways, on a side note(and because this thread was broken the moment the OP touched his keyboard). I decided for a complete change of subject(yeah i didn't have much sleep so forgive me if i seem half my age or mentally ill).

I really really hate being low on gas money. Today i had to run some errands, and because i was low on gas money, my driving ended up being pretty lame and boring. I'm sad :(

Wow...and here I thought Sins had the most intuitive camera interface I've ever seen in an RTS. It doesn't get claustrophobicly close like in Warcraft or Warhammer. The camera and I really seem to get along in Sins. Sure, it sometimes follows some random tiny ship that I can't see from a distance, but it's very easy to snap it out of doing that. Personally, I think the camera is one of the strongest aspects of Sins.

I do wish that camera rotation was mapped to the middle mouse button because
when ever I release the right button its invariably over another button that gets
toggled on or of without me noticing causeing WTH moments. It also makes me loose focus
of whatever I'm looking @ if the curser is touching the side of the screen when I
release. I know I could turn off side scrolling but I prefer using the mouse instead of
arrow keys. Just a suggestion.

I would like to see comprehensive and exhaustive statistical evidence back up this claim. I would also like to see some test of yours from various subjects and different school years because I question your intellectual capacity as a result of your unwarranted rant and ludicrous claims.

There how does it feel? Inquiring minds want to know...
