Modding Problem

Game Info Weird

I've been playing this game since beta 1 and have been able to mod the gameinfo files as i saw fit for my wants and needs. But since the release all the info files looked distorted from their standard orginization, below I'm posting a short excerpt of my current PlanetTerranHome file:

"BIN
   P l a n e t       I D S _ P L A N E T T Y P E _ T E R R A N    E m p t y    S p a r s e    P l a n e t _ T e r r a n _ 0   €?  €?  €?  €?           H U D I C O N _ P L A N E T _ T E R R A N 0    H U D I C O N S M A L L _ P L A N E T _ T E R R A N 0    I N F O C A R D I C O N _ P L A N E T _ T E R R A N 0    M A I N V I E W I C O N _ P L A N E T _ T E R R A N 0 %   M A I N V I E W U N D E T E C T E D I C O N _ P L A N E T _ T E R R A N 0    P I C T U R E _ P L A N E T _ T E R R A N 0    I D S _ P L A N E T T Y P E _ T E R R A N    S p a r s e  "

I have no clue why mine looks like this, I looked at the current modding tutorial things and the contents of their files look like they always have since beta 1 but mine look "weird". Any help/assistance would be awesome.

You need THIS

It is the mod tools. Inside there is 'Reference Data'. Open that up and you can find the files you need in readable form. The above form you are looking at is Binary.

Why was it changed?? It never used to show up as binary coding...

They encoded the entity files to decrease load times. It was only done for optimization.

Note that for modding, the game still reads text and will work just as well without encoding.

Oh ok cool, sounds like it would. I have a dual core processor so it should load about the same speed for me.
