To those who  said i did not give the game a fiar chance...I might not have and i will keep trying. It is difficult for me when there is no storyline to grasp. That is my own failing but I will just ignore that.

Some have sent me messages explaining the ins and outs of the game in further detail and i appreciate that thanks!

To those who try and insult me personally...I throw a general insult in your direction

And finally to those who feel I have no right to complain or use this forum improperly...That's your opinion and I do appreciate that as well..

 

MY QUESTION....I play as a defensive player entirely....I play by attrition and expand based off of their failed attacks i.e. They attack and loose a sizable force and retreat...I come in with cap ships and a fleet and destroy it.

 I clutter the jump points with guns and ships yet they keep coming and eventually they come from non jump point areas.....How are they coming from my flanks when they have no forces to my rear....last night they amassed a force larger then I have ever seen from the rear and not near any jump points...that speaks volumes on its AI to me...caught me and routed my most defended system. This enemy force included 3 different AI groups..I thought it not possible to travel space except via warp speed ?  And the funny thing was I was not notified of an impending armada like i usually was....

And last...to DEFENSIVE players...what is your strategy?..do share i am curious

I'm dissapointed too about no campaign...but the story is coming...the developers will make a story in an expansion.

Yeah, that tends to be my strategy too, but keep in mind...if the enemy is smart enough he'll retreat back to a strong defensive point with repair stations before losing too many critical ships.

I tend to Build defensive structures close to the planet/asteroid with at least 2 repair stations. So my planets are completely surrounded by defenses...though sections not facing the phase lanes...tend to be weak....until I have extra money.
In SINS you really can't defend a planet without a fleet. So orbital defenses are there as a temporary measure until your fleet arrives.

Some people don't like defensive turrent/guns because they are weak...but they soak up a lot of damage. I tend to build a near balance of fighters and bombers...with bombers a slight majority.

But sometimes a good defense is a good offense...time your attack right after a pirate attacks the AI, or at the beginning of the game keep a high bounty on two AIs therefore they will bid against each other and leave you alone.
