My beef

I play some seriously difficult games like Hearts of Iron 2 and it mods and Europa Barbarorum an RTW mod this game when i was reading the package was pretty vague as to its content. Well I have got to say its the lousiest game I have come across in some time ONLY beacuase its meant for friends/competitors to play the solo content is a joke. Why could they have not put a warning disguised as a welcome to gamers as to its content. This is my first RTSx4 as they called it and I cant say that I am inpressed. First 5 mins of the game I am at war with everyone and they plead to me for resources and have the gaul to be angry if I dont offer them to them....Uh ....we are at war I am not your friend......The intro mentions we are ex veterans of some sort and the last line to defending a civilaztion on  a 2 front war??? The planet you start on has no technology nor does it have any defense...for buddahs sake it has no mining operations set up...  This game is incomplete IMHO. Why are the opne sect of humans so angey at the other and want to destroy it??? Can anyone see where i am goiing...The population if the planets you  assimilate are 180 people on an asteroid 10 people?? I was so thinking this game was a micro manage armchair general game...

ON THE OTHERHAND  If I were playing this game on the internet and didnt care about all the necessary items to make a sucessful game for a soloer this game would be a solid average game....the graphics are minimal at best the zooming in and out are ok...the micromanagement on the left is a nice idea for ships...

I paid 39 bucks..hehe I got my disgust out  exactly 39 dollars worth thanks for letting me vent...

So, essentially, you admit that you really have no idea what you were spending your $39 on, once you received it, you couldn’t be bothered to actually read the manual packaged ever so neatly within which discusses lore and setting material, and you’ve proven that you have the proper mixture of self-aggrandizement and utter impenetrability when it comes to the basic social graces to come to a public place and shout your ignorance at any passer-by.

Please, by all means, donate your copy of Sins to a library where at least it’ll get loving attention from a literate and dispose of your Luddite sensibility in a different corner of the Net, one marked by puddles of urine against brick walls and cars missing their tyres, where you and we shall both feel more comfortable.

And a good day to you, sir.

Garravesh, keep playing. At first Sins might seem like it has some significant problems and a steep learning curve, but once you get into a groove it's actually the most addicting game I've played since Rise of Nations (World in Conflict was good if people were using their mic's). An easy thing you can do to improve your experience in SP is to lock the teams. Try locking them into 2v2 or 2v2v2 or 3v3 or even 1v1v1v-> free-for-all. Also try the game with and without pirates. Soon you'll find settings that work for you, and as you get a hang of the game you will begin to like it more. It just takes a while to really get a hold of because it's not got the typical rock, paper, scissors type gameplay that's made obvious.

Give it another try and use the suggestions above. I felt like you did at first, but kept playing and now this is my current favorite game. :)

A litle off-topic, but why is it that people who rant resort to using ... everytime they have to finish a sentence? Doesn't exactly add to their credibility.

Yes; it makes them look a little bit indecisive. It says "my sentence trails off because I can't think of a good way to finish it".
I do it too though, so I shouldn't complain. :P

A little more off topic, but why is it that people rant at all? If they dont like the game, then they dont have to play it, but in the end, they are the ones who paid for it, so its no-ones fault but their own. if they didn't research it up before coughing up the cash, then thats basically saying 'Ok, im willing to risk my money'.

I always research up what i am about to buy, and im never dissapointed, due to the fact that i ONLY get what i think is worth the cash.

In my opinion, Sins is a great game, and it will continue to be until something beats it (which is highly unlikely). And i can understand that there are people out there who have different opinions, thats fine, but you dont have to clog up the FAN SITE forums with 'I dont like this game because its boring' or 'its not my style of gaming, so it must suck'

What would be better is if people said 'I did not enjoy this game because {insert reason here) and i think you could improve this by (insert improvment here)'

Garravesh, im not aiming this at you, remember i said 'a little more off topic'. At least you tried with statements of why you did not like it. Next time, you can improve with a little more than 'I did not bother to read the lore, therefore it has no story' and go for a 'I read the lore, it doesnt fit in with (insert reason here)'.

I know where you're coming from. I'm very positive towards Sins but if you saw the things I type on UT3 forums you'd think I was a totally different person incapable of positive thinking. The fact is that a lot of people want to like a game and are giving their experiences and opinions as feedback on ways to help them enjoy a product better. Yes, it comes across as whining or crying or one of those words, but it's a way for people to express what's bothering them before permanently shutting the door on something.

I hate to use this analogy, but it's sort of like someone who's contemplating suicide and trying to express themselves in different ways in order for someone to come out and meet them to bring them back from the edge. They're trying to say "I don't want to jump! But I'm standing on this ledge!". It's pretty standard behavior everyone has been pre-programmed with instinctually. When you really want something to work out, such as genuinely enjoying a product, but things fall through then many people express complaints, dissatisfaction, and more. However, they give you a chance to respond to their complaints and dissatisfactions rather than giving you no chance at all and slamming the door in your face. It's sort of a backwards courtesy. It rarely has the desired effect sometimes unfortunately and sometimes fortunately.

Is it annoying sometimes? Sure. Should this person's input always be responded to or implemented? No. You can't please all the people all the time, so they say.

EDIT: A better example. If someone says "The Honda Element sucks! The dashboard is too plastic-y, looks cheap, feels like it'll fall in, and is of an awkward design," that normally is considered a short rant or complaint about a product. However, what this person is really saying, especially if they're in the market for a vehicle, is "if the Honda Element had a more refined dashboard with a better layout, I'd probably want to buy this vehicle." Words commonly clutter and cloud the underlying meaning and motive for a statement to be made.

If this game isn't for you then that's perfectly fine, there are oh so many other perfectly good gaming genres to choose from, including hardcore wargaming and simulation. But don't berate the game and its designers for your mistake in making an uninformed choice to buy the game.

By the way, while the planet may have 180 population and the asteroid 10, those can be seen as the actual values (reduced for simplicity, not realism) or they could be seen as representative numbers (1 SoaSE pop = X actual people) like those little boxes that are used to track military units in wargames. And yes the planet starts out undeveloped, it's your job to develop it. You may not have played many 4x games but they all start that way, with a minimal starting spot that you have to develop and expand form.
