Two questions regarding this achievement.

One: It says "win the game by yourself" Does that mean I can't ever make a peace treaty if I want the achievement? What about cease fires? Or does that just mean no allied victory? (Ie, break treaty before 2nd to last player dead

So to be specific, can I get myself an ally, then dump him before we win together and still get the achievement?

Seccondly, what movie/book/game is this achievement quoting/referencing?

As long as you're not on a team with any AIs when you start the game, you should get the achievement when you win.

just play a 7 v 1 and you'll get a lot of ach's

Well, I know you can make ceasefires/peace treaties and still get the achievement. I don't know what happens if you're at peace with someone when you win, though. Can you even do that?

And yes you can, I was playing a 3 player FFA and I made a peace treaty with one of them. As soon as we killed the third player, we won.

I wanted to be HAL he had the knowledge of the ages :) Another freaky movie that deserves to be quited and no i am not talking bout the ALIENS sound bites i.e. "we're hitting some chop!" "5 by 5." No, i am talking bout homocidal movies like Event Horizon and Sunshine (or whatever its called it came out in 2007)

I can say, for certain, that if you have a cease-fire with a faction and you break it before you finish, then you can still get the achievement.

I can't say for peace treaties (I never make them - a cease fire is a far as I'm willing to go :P), but I imagine that if you're solo by the end (and so wipe out your former allies) you should be okay

an easy wau to get this achievement is to play a huge map with locked teams, 5 hards, and 4 normals, that way the normals are not murdered by the hard comps.
