OT: Pet peeve - "Masters" of Orion

I know this is grossly off-topic. I was reading through the customer reviews of MOO3 at amazon.com and am surprised by the number of people calling it "Masters" (in the plural) of Orion. How can so many people be wrong about the title? Sort of reminds me of the days when I worked the helpdesk and had to hear countless people discuss their problems with "American" Online. Is this a symbol of american educational decline? Who knows.

Shouldn't that be "American edu-macational decline?" ;p

And I don't know why they say it like that. If it was "Masters", it might as well be "Oligarchy". It's singular; only one emperor can control Orion.

On a similar note, we shouldn't say French fries and French toast. They're frenched fries (they came from Belgium) and frenched toast, because the verb french means to thinly slice.

Hehe, the "Masters" added to the name makes it it sound like a futuristic golf game.

"And today at Augusta National Golf Club, the final 18 holes of the 2040 Masters Tournament are upon us. The player from Antares is currently at the top of the leader board, but the seasoned Tiger Woods is closing in on him. Now we will see who the 'Masters of Orion' really are. :D

actually, IG lists the game as masters of orion so they can read. I remember when the game was delayed for the fifteenth time there was a big discussion about it over on the moo3 boards

Well, if we have to make for of Bush AGAIN, SNL did it best. I think Bush would be good at GalCiv because he understands "Strategery".

how the hell did this become a Bush bashing contest.

Oh, and Gore is a real winner too. He's the father of the internet you know.

Well, if you are like say.. He-Man or Teela or something, then you probably *would* be the Masters of Orion. They are after all, the Masters of the Universe. So mebbe the game is geared towards that particular group of um.. Masters. Or something.

Okay, i can't resist. Gore never said he invented the internet. He said in an interview "During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet." It still sounds a little strange out of context, but it was understood that this was meant in terms of appropriating funding. However just taking the quote out of context wasn't good enough for the media, so they had to _lie_ and change the wording as well.

Even taken in context, that was still a foolish thing for Al Gore to say. Talk about trying to take all the credit. That is why people make fun of that so much, because he was stretching the truth so much just to make himself seem so great. But I guess that is par for the course when a politician is involved. ;)

Well at least Gore just said foolish things. While Bush says, and as a man of honor, acts upon it ;p

Given that the States has politicans of the ilk & class of Gore & Bush it is time for the Crown to take back the Colonies.

Actually, now that you mention it, the American Revolution was pretty silly. We rebelled when less than 5% of our income was being taxed (and whined that we didn't have a say in it), but now we're taxed 33% of our income. As Ben Franklin said, "In this world, nothing is certain, but death and taxes."

Bobo say Crown take back all other colonies lost since oldentimes. Then come talk to Yankee rebels. Might be longtime before talk. Bobo agree some yankee politicians silly. Bobo think some British politicians silly too. If Bobo think hard (make head hurt) Bobo say lots countries have silly politicians.

Bobo think maybe revolution was silly. Maybe not. Him not live back then. Nobody still here not live back then so nobody really know. Maybe read from book. Bobo not know if allthings written in books happen just like people say. If revolution was silly is because people silly. Same silly then as silly now. Same silly in other countries as this country.

Bobo go now.

Boy has this gotten off topic. Yes the American Revolution was fought over 5% taxation and what was percieved as lack of representation in Parliament. We now have tax brackets of 38% and even if you have a great accountant you end up paying at least 20% with all the state and local taxes they have now. That the USA I hear its worse in the EU. That combined with a 2 party system where both parties suck and we are way worse off than then. We just have 200 years better technology to benefit from.

Thankfully we have cool video games to lose ourselves in so we don't have to think about it. Imagine if the Founding Fathers had had GalCiv....... :)
