Dumb question - resources

Every single planet I have says no resources, therefore I cannot build any types of ships. I know I am doing something wrong, yet nothing in the documentations mentions how I get resources to build ships. What am I missing here?

Usually it means your spending is too low. I've found that if I have spending at about 10%, my smaller population planets won't build anything. Try increasing your spending slider for military.

Lower quality planets will also require more spending to have enough resources to build.

If you're colonizing planets below class 14, it's really hard to make these planets productive.

Or your treasury is below -500BC, and all production has stopped, but you probably would have noticed if your social projects weren't getting built either.

Not really. Just make a PQ upgrade (which really should be standard for all planets) and you'll have a productive planet in no time.

Ah - I will adjust spending - had it going to research mostly. Didn't realize spending ties into getting planetary resources.
