Deleting Metaverse scores?

I slogged my way through a Gigantic/Painful game, and blindly submitted my Metaverse score. Disappointed to see I got a whole 1600 points. Now, I could have gone for an earlier tech win, but I wanted the military conquest.

How about an option to delete scores? I guess I was looking for smooth progression as my playing skills improved, and this kind of spoils things...

Cheers,

John.

If you are playing with the most recent patch then 1600 is probably going to be a good score. The latest patch really lowered scoring dramatically from where it was, so it will take awhile to get used to. My last game I would have expected to get between 5000-7000 and got 1400 instead.

Yes, I was playing with the most recent patch. I guess I can live with the changes; I mostly want something done to relieve the starbase micromanagement hell...metaverse scores are the least of my worries!

some sort of "auto upgrade starbase" feature? how would that work exactly?

i know what you mean though, my games always end up with all my planets producing nothing but constructors, so there are always dozens of them on the map zooming around and upgrading starbases everywhere... i guess it does get a little time consuming.

Yes, I must agree, the constructors ballet can get tiresome, specially without rally points.
Maybe they could implement the multi-modules constructors that some people were talking about in the mod forrm. I would certainly cut down the constructors micromanagement in mid-end game.

JPMcD,
I think Brad's trying to change people's attitude to submitting. He doesn't want any cases where someone can submit 1 or 2 games and be anywhere near the top of the metaverse. The difference in score between the maximum possible and minimum possible has been drastically reduced to stop this. It means that your 1600 point score is now far more valuable than before, because you nkow that someone can't get a 30k score anymore. The bad news is that Stardock will soon run their latest scoring mechanism through the old games and you other highe scores (11k, etc) will probably also get drastically reduced. Won't be any point deleting scores as all scores will be reduced!

All of which should at least do a nice leveling of the board and is nice since it won't invalidate games that you play in the meantime.

Can't wait to see the posts when the retro adjustment goes in.... :)

It was done to eliminate the holding back on meeting the victory condition and building boku population to more reflect playing ability. I got a low score my first game because once I was about 10 turns from the end, I hit the turn button 10 times and won when I could have delayed it and upped pop and scoring stuff dramatically. The scoring scale should reflect diminishing returns for cheese tactics like that. Kudo's.

But then again it's not like scoring means a whole lot when you can always decide not to post a game. I'm going to post them all and how it comes out, it comes out.

I don't see why having old scores adapted to the new formula is bad news. If SD doesn't do it, the Top 25 players will still be Top 25 in 1 year :p

Not that it's really important, considering I have been unable to submit any new score for the last 2 weeks... :CONGRAT:

On the other hand, it could seriously nobble any scores that were milked a bit too much.

Also, what I'd like to see is a system where only the top, say 80% of your scores are used, for players who had a rough start, had some decent scores decimated by the recalc or simply had a bad day :)
