The frequent updates are one of the best things about GalCiv. Nobody is making you download them.

If you don't like what the devs are doing to balance and improve the game then learn to mod it yourself and stop complaining about actually receiving support on a game. They're not going to break all their changes up into purely modular patches so someone who thinks that v1.02 is crap and v1.03 is even more crap can just find something else to complain about.

I wonder if they are just that mad that PQ+15% is now gone? :D

I'm all for the updates! Keep up the great support! Hurray! :CONGRAT:

I loved PQ15 but also realized it was overpowered. Getting rid of it spurred me to try different approaches, and that's been just as much fun.

Sadly people will whine about anything..the only thing we can do is hope that the positive feedback we give outweighs anything Brad & Co hear from the whiners

Getting rid of it cost me being able to play as often as I would like. It really did help me overcome nasty starting positions. Now I spend a lot more time playing through enough to go... er, they all have 12 worlds and I got 2 out of the rush? And they have already claimed all the resources? Darn those isolated corner starts! Control+N. Control+N. Control+N. Control+N. Control+N. Control+N. Control+N. Control+N. Control+N. Control+N. Control+N. Control+N. Control+N. Control+N. Control+N. Ah. There's at least 3 sectors with stars within reach of my home sector, with just a minor quick rush of a constructor. Lets see what is there...

I'm serious. But hey, them's the breaks. I archived 1.02, so I can come back to it and actually play a game I might have a chance at starting and playing, when I get tired of Control+N cycling. I just have really strange luck with RNGs.

My goodness... I don't even know how to react without starting a flame.

I'll just say :sniff!: :sniff!: :sniff!:

Nastavnik, who said it wasn't already?

And Ichimaru, what fixes in 1.02 and 1.03 are giving you grief? Details, man, details! And you will need all of the patches between now and whenever the expansion pack comes out to get the Bombardment Cruiser.

Grrrr stop updating!!!!!! as you have been and speed it up!!!( whip snapping in the back ground! ) LOL

Perhaps you might enjoy the game more if you uninstalled it and reinstall it just play it as is off the disk,it should work just fine as is.

Updates are just more bells and whistles and tweaks.I belive most bugs come from the bells and whistles thats why thay tweak. ;)

Play game as is and when G.C.2004 or so comes out buy it Im sure the bombers will be in it. :)

P.S. I love bells and whistles :CONGRAT:

I love the updates. I just wish they'd fix the Metaverse score submission routine.

Some details: forget the PQ stuff. that isn't needed but for the first 1.03 the grief was too much fighting the AI just to be left alone, each time I would go a smidgen below them in military power even though I had the economic means to destroy them they would declare war, then I would have to ramp up military production till I went above them, sue for peace, grab what I can from them then set things back to normal until the next time. Was too busy chasing after the military stat to do anything else. I was trying for culture or tech win but instead had to settle for cheap Alliance wins where I gave away all my stuff at the end to make an allies and then win the game.

The second thing was the ultimate cost of constructors vs. morale and taxes. Before 1.03 I would do ok getting a Starbase going on every resource I found and 1 base per inhabited sector now I can't even keep them alive let alone have them be of any worth. It seems constructors come too slow, ok it does prevent massive Starbase building but now I can't even get what would be considered a normal amount of Starbases.

I will now see what this updated 1.03 brings.

Before you people jump all over my skin for bringing up what I think are issues, you asked for opinions on where gameplay can be improved and here are mine. It's getting so even a bit of dissent on this board is met with shouts that people don't appreciate what the developers are doing. Not true, I'm still playing the game everyday and some of the biggest mouths here don't seem to have played at all.

i am not whining about the PQ bonus i can go in and turn the 5 into a 500(i have once its no fun too easy) if i want but i dont use that anyway. i just dont like how it makes the moral harder right now i can barly keep my planets in line and with the population/moral update i cant get ver.1.03 cause cant win on more than rare or the next one up number of good worlds good worlds i cant affored to compete on more cause cost of everything at that makes it harder to keep my Sol population happy cause i need lots of the to afford it.

i guess my title was missleading i ment to say Stop bundling every update together and let us pick what ones we want out of the game. that could effect multiverse scoring but filters can be made.

Yes morale seems exactly right now. Influence was cut way back, interesting, have about 5 planets in a cluster and my blue hardly extends beyond sector borders and I register 1% influence on a gigantic map.

The 7% PQ ability added is fine for 8 points but I wish they kept the 5% too, since now you can't take PQ and any speed at the same time. Makes for slow gigantic map exploration early on.

Haven't seen any ship problems yet but I'm a defensive player and don't attack early in my games. Time will tell.

The morale anomoly now registers properly. I haven't quit and re-loaded yet so don't know if the shipyard bonus holds or not.

One thing you can say is that you need a different strategy for each version which is cool.

Saw the review in PCGamer mag today, they gave it an 82 and took some good jabs at MOO3 in the review. Unless noted they only rate the unpatched version of games.

Well back to my game.

"One thing you can say is that you need a different strategy for each version which is cool."

That's what this game is about!
