All seeing AI

It seems well known, documented, and explained away that the AI can see the entire map from the start of the game. However, I now suspect that they can *always* see the *entire* map - where all your ships are and suchlike?!
Either that, or their sensor range is a *lot* more than that specified on the ship info screen...

Example; in my current game I've just built the Eyes of the Galaxy (or whatever it's called, I forget) - giving me an obscene scanner range. :)
I have two constructors (sensor range 6-8) out in space, miles from anything, and yet a single Drengin BC (with a sensor range of 3) manages to find and track their movements - I could see it matching my horizontal movement as I (feebly) tried to escape it.

Example; (same game) Another Drengin BC (sensor range 3) sits still for a few turns (repairing I assume), so I approach it with a small fleet, staying 4 squares away (diagonally) so it, supposedly, can't see me. What does it do, but flies straight at the fleet it shouldn't be able to see and attacks.

Bug? Cheating? Prescience? Hallucination? :notsure:

Yup, my thoughts agree with you about the computer not affected by "fog of space" too. I had resources near my worlds, far beyond the "sensor range" of any other race. As I was just starting to find and reach them (other races). Next thing I know, they have bases at the resources and are taking planets beyond my planets closer planets to their empires. Course I have had a few "stuck" enemy colony ships found sitting at a couple of my systems where I colonized them first. The computer also seems to "expand" influence very quickly even when in the senate I have the most!
