Regarding choosing the range bonus in 1.03. I recall reading that it was going to change it from +10% to +1 or something. I chose the range bonus +1 at startup, and when I check out my stats it says +1%. I recall that previously colony ships on huge maps had a starting range of 3 with no bonus. Despite having chosen the range bonus at startup, my colony ships still only have a range of 3 on my new 1.03 game on a huge map.

Just updated to 053. I was having the econ problem, so I updated and loaded my saved game (from 1.03). CTD right after I click OK from the initial status report.

Seen a few other people mentioning this, but I'll put it here:

Sometimes I'll get the "Invading the blah blah system will be viewed as an act of war..." when its actually another race invading a someones system (they were previously at war with them as well).
Not crippling but very strange.

Maybe Brad could take a look at this.

I have -454bc. I am in contact with the other races, and they have more cash reserves than I do. I am ranked first in Treasury. ????

The thing that concerns me though, is that the Arceans contact me every few turns demanding between 450bc - 650bc in a lump sum. Don't they know that you can't get blood from a turnip?

DblDamage: Wow, that negative treasury-with-other-civs-demanding tribute thing is popping up frequently lately. :-/ You're the third I've seen.

(anyway, this is easy to test. Offer another Civ your entire treasury over, say, five or six turns. You will probably get a demand for some ungodly amount of BC despite being several hundred negative)

The Altarian Defender and the Terran Dreadnought are the ships I had with no pictures, but that was in 1.02; I've not gotten far enough in a 1.03 game to see whether it's still an issue.

Sure, sure, Brad, blame the language and not the coder ;)

Nothing like trying to spot a syntactically correct but utterly semantically incorrect statement in the midst of pages of code - particularly when it's just a typo :)

Sooo.. thats why the Torians had like 6 starbases with 10+ modules installed by turn 100 in my last game.. I was wondering how they managed that!

Another thing I noticed but Im not sure its a bug. Sometimes when I press the "End Turn" button, none of my ships move but everything else updates. I have "Auto Turn" off. If I turn "Auto Turn" on then it appears to be OK. It might just be the way things are sequenced or not.. :)

Hey, newbie here. Playing version 1.03.054.

It appears in my latest game that the other races are changing their capitals. I KNOW the current Drengin capital was uninhabited at first (I had a colony ship enroute). I think the Tor did the same capital switch. And it is not just major races; the Carinoids also switched. :notsure:

In my first 1.03 game I've got the Kwisalian (sp.?) capital in their second system, or at least it had exactly 100 pop when I spotted it, while their other system, in the same sector on the same turn, had two populated planets, both with larger and un-round numbers of pop.

Is it normal for the alien civilizations to switch Capital planets? I didn't think they could do that.

PirateRob, that had me confused at first as well, but then I realized that what is happening is any autopilot ships you have are causing that double-turn issue.

"Capitol" Musical Chairs-

I've noticed that alien capitols switch all the time, too. They have since the day I first played. I don't know if they're supposed to do that or not.

I do remember reading somewhere that losing your capitol would have grave consequences for the humans. Not sure if that applies to the aliens. Was anoying though when I first started playing.........trying to capture a capitol only to have the dang thing move to another system next to it.

I think I've noticed a bug. I've started seeing planets population increase without proper bound, regardless of the morale. In other words, Earth is at 8 something billioin, 39 morale, and the population seems to be increasing...if no one else has seen this, I'm going to recheck and make sure I'm not messing up something up.

There's another bug as well on the diplomacy screen. When your looking at the minor races, and you talk to one, when you leave, the picture shown is the last major race you talked to, not the minor race.

Just completed playing on a gigantic map at challenging level.

Notice the problem with the cash. I remember one time when i have + net flow, but at the end of every turn i lose money...didn't concerned me, i just re-adusted the tax and the amount to spend on tech/mil/sol. After that, it seems to go up and go down...odd

Alt-tab....works ok for me. Im currently running win2k

Ship disappearing? didn't happend with 1.03. But it did occured once with version 1.02 with starbase that i build. When i build a starbase, the picture does not appear but when i click on it i get the blue circle thing round it. But when try and double click on it to bring up the option, nothing happens. But i could access the options through the ships list, also i can still add modules.

Apart from that, i didn't notice anything else.

Since the case problem is happening to a lot of us, i think that is the only major issues with version 1.03

It's so frustrating that after this update, I can't even change government type eg; imperial to republic. It crashes...does anyone else have this problem? :sniff!:

Here's another one,

Current game has me totally in control. The main races left are the Drengin and Yor. The Yor's treasury is at -80 TC (that's trillion). I put them there by attacking them with almost 120 Dreadnaught/Avatar/Overlord/Excalibur ships. Seems they can go over the -500bc limit. The problem is their stats say they have the #1 treasury. Yeah right. The Drengin have 3,467BC and I have almost 20 TC. They don't even rate ahead of any of the minor races. So how can they be #1? Those stats have affect on your morale, so I'd like to see that fixed (like don't take the absolute value ;p )

Other than a few other issues, this game rocks and never ceases to amaze me. Yesterday, I was rolling along and dinking the Yor and the Drengin, never enemies with both at the same time. So, while I'm at war with the Yor and the Drengin are my friends, some event shows up about a disgruntled citizen assasinating the Silverback of the Drengin Empire. Yikes, and someone gave them 300 corvette-class ships to boot. No biggie, I took out all of them with not a single loss, but it sure made me think about ramifications.

I need to watch the I-League too...I saw an Excalibur with their symbol on it.

I have a bug in my economy. My treasury will change to yellow numbers (indicating a loss inc), but then I will go to my economic tab on the domestic policy screen and see that I am set to turn a profit. The treasury numbers will go back to orange when I do this. But when I hit next turn, I do indeed lose money somehow, and the treasury numbers are back to yellow.

Don't know if anyone had the same problem but....
with 1.03 I cannot hear background music anymore, only sound effects ! Could it be something related to sound codec ?

Roberto, I've seen that problem with ship creations not sticking, and every time it's been because I already had 16 ships in orbit. That wasn't your problem, was it?
I had a trade ship that belonged to the Drengin (I think) that vanished and was replaced by a bright-red sillouette of the ship. It still moved, and seemed to act like a trade ship, but if I clicked on it ("what the heck is that?"), I crashed to desktop.

While playing on a tiny map, the Yor control no systems but are still in the game.
