Is it worth campaigning in Hawaii and Alaska?

I never campaign there but its worthless I think. Alaska only cares about drilling and hawaii is just not worth going for 3 votes. Id rather go to the idaho/ montana area. And is it a good strategy to follow your opponent the whole game to every state he goes to? I cant beat teddy roosevelt with my created candidate and clinton cant get past nixon. So if i only go to the states that my opponent goes to, do I have a better chance of winning?

I think it's better to focus on your oppent's base. If you're a Reoublican, you should build a level 3 HQ in CA and/or NY and/or IL. If you can capture either state, you're on your way to victory. Try to take TX, OH and FL. It really is worth it to sink in the political capital for a smear merchant and the money for ads in these states.

As for your query about Alaska and Hawaii - their votes aren't any less valuble than any of the other states - I just normally forget about them. I normally play Republican (or as a Democrat to unlock more Republicans), and I can just replace the obligatory Alaskan votes with Idaho and other midwestern states. If you conduct your campaign sucussfully, though, as a Democrat Hawaii should just vote for you and the same for Alaska and Republicans.

If you build a level 3 HQ, send your political operative to Alaska. Its a practically guaranteed 3 electoral votes.

Although the AI on lower levels seems to build HQ's in Alaska far more often than it should. I guess10,000 a turn is 10,000 a turn, but it still seems a waste. This is one reason I'd like to see the Tough AI cheat less. The challenging AI is in love with wasting advertisements and HQ's on states like Maine, Idaho, and Alaska.

Unless you are expecting a really close race or are trying to sweep the electoral votes, its not really worth it. I think the effort, as minimal as it may be, would be better spent stealling NY or Cali if you are a republican or Texas if you are a dem.

I always lose hawaii and alaska cause i never visit them. But its hard to keep up with the computer cause they always attack me. I have to use a tv ad to get a newspaper thing to say that this person blasts someone. Im not sure if thats normal cause i place an ad on i support more jobs and it comes back as i blast someone on more jobs, but thats only if i use a tv ad which is expensive. Plus I am missing buttons but it has the word. The letters go off the thing cause i have the game on a bad laptop cause im getting new one, but it works. Anyways, i think it is a little bias to the opponent once you get to the tougher guys.

You should be getting the newspaper ad when you place tv and radio ads. Those ads get national attention which is why the paper comes up. And the newspaper always says you blast someone, even when you made an ad supporting something. I don't know if that was on purpose but I do wish they would address it in a future update.
