Fourth Game: Lost Again

Ok this is what happened: Hmmm i was aming toward an Alliance or Cultural Victory but something really crazy happened to me and i call it starting position: The Dregdins had that + Life Bonus and he fought against everyone except me, sure he was the most powerful in term of raw power but he sure had no commercial interest from the others civs until i made the decision to be Evil a lot more Evil. Ok then because i tought the Dregdins will never oppose me because of my cultural and industrial power i started ignoring them but they didn't do it that way in fact they started trading with me without i even agreed, then at some point of the game that crazy war event happened to me with no ally to help me. The war puts me against the Dregdins which had twice the power i could ever dream of, i just notice they had about 900% more hp than i did!!?? WTF?? I started buying ships and i tried to held them at bay until i found another way to beat them.
In the end i lost 13 corvette and 3 transport ships. But it didnt stop there even if i owned them culturally with (137 starbases) the Dregdins started to get more and more city with their influence even if they only had about 47% of what I had. but they started to invade everyone else culturally until there's only 2 left me and the monkeys. I got mad and tried to convince myself until i made some kind of plan i started trading all my warfleets and all kind of stuff for cultural pts but its didnt work as they grew stronger each months i tought with all the maintenance theyve gotten into. Bah i started pumping out my military prestige and consoliding my cultural power but having almost 75% of the solar systems i had to resign myself and quit.

I'm really having a hard time understanding much of what you wrote, but it sounds like the Drengins got the event that makes them more powerful each turn. Civilizations only get this when they are very weakened, in my experience. When you see this event happen, you really MUST make it a priority to take that civilization out in the near future or else they will eventually become too powerful to deal with. And yes, even if you make peace with them you can get screwed by the really nasty event that starts a war between you and a previously friendly civilization.

One other thing....you were fighting with corvettes? Didn't you have something better than that at such a late point in the game?

Nah the event made me go to war against them Btw this isnt for the light reader

Nah even my battle cruisers had only hmmmm about 15-30 hp or less i got myself screwed when i realize that starship foundation and stuff stacked, those thing are like the most fundamental things in the game,

I read over thirty books every month, and I can't understand a word of what you're trying to say.

So it must not be for the heavy reader either.

what the hell WERE you doing then? Battle Cruisers? The Cadillac Seville of the space ways? Two to three dreadnoughts can dominate a galaxy where no other race has them. (I like to trade Dreadnought tech with minor races that I trade heavily with- they never seem to build them anyways but will pay nice for the tech!)

I can understand you dedicating more energy and money into cultural victory and the items necessary for that route... but you gotta defend yourself! I always make the Dregins my b*tch right away- the Torian seem to like that and shower me with BC, influence, and women.

Bleh, what do you want with Torian women?? Personally, I don't find those ET lookalikes to be that attractive...but to each his own ;)

you need more military to scare off the drengin ;)

pay off other civs to goto war with him, he will be less likely to start a new war with you ;)

send some cash on esionage on them, u can avoid that war event and find out how technologically advanced they are later on, and maybe find out when they are economically weak and attack them then!

If owning the galaxy is what you want, wait til you get the Excalibur ship. I was the only race with it, and I whupped everybody with just two of them. With my bonuses, etc they each had 800+ hp 250 attack and 74 defense. The only thing was they took 3000 production points to build, so on my best planet it took 14 months to build.

In my last game, I had planets turning out an Excalibur in six turns or so.

Of course, due to all kinds of insane luck, my ability to grab the Terraformer and such, over half my planets were PQ 50+
