money

I notice that i spend about 12 million per campaign and that my opponents spend up to double that. How are they making all this money? I build about 7 level 1 hqs early, then do a bunch of advertising + fund raising, mixed in with some speeches. What should i be doing? Ford is kicking my butt.....

Level 3 headquarters bring in much more money. Also you you should do your fund raising in states where you awareness is high and the wealth for that state is high.

I really only do fund raisers in new york, PA, texas, california, illinois, mass, and jersey. So i have that part down. But, by halfway thru the election i start running at a deficit. Meanwhile, the comp is posting tv ads and radio ads galore. I ll have maybe 10 hqs, all level 1, and he ll have far less. Yet, he is able to afford tons of marketing and ends up spending 2x what i did. I guess i can try bigger hqs, but i rarely have 500k plus to plunk down.

Any more ideas on how to get funds flowing?

Some stats on HQ's:
Level 1: 250,000
Money earned if built on day 1: 400,000

Level 2: 750,000
Money earned if built on day 1: 1,200,000

Level 3: 1,750,000
Money earned if built on day 1: 3,600,000

I never think that the level 3's are worth it. You can only build 1 of them on day one and after that its hard to lay out the 1.75 million and 12 stamina points after day one.

I don't know if this applies to your case but I was having a lot of trouble going into the negative when I started because I was using too much tv and radio advertising and didn't have the HQ levels to support it. Now I only use TV ads in states where I have a web master or a director and I build my HQs to second or third level. I tend to depend far more on newspaper ads and speeches these days.

I think you just have to fundraise more. I usually spend about 18 million or more on my campaigns. I have a lot of campaign HeadQuarters and I usually keep a positive monthly income. Your choice of running mate also seems to affect your money. After picking Forbes I usually get a few million bonus. Maybe if you pick a runningmate with no fundraising or money ratings you aren't getting as much of a boost.

It could also be that the candidate you selected to play as has lower fundraising/money ratings to begin with, so your fundraising efforts don't rake in as much.
