Too strong transports fixed in 1.02?

I am now playing version 1.02, but I do remember that I had this event in 1.01:

"UP council vote: transports are not safe etc. etc. how strong should they be?"

In my game the majority voted to give them maximum protection. The result was that they became STRONGER than dreadnoughts?!!?? And much cheaper by the way......

I hope they tweaked this event in 1.02. Can someone tell me if this has happened, because I am playing 1.02. at the moment, but didn't get the event yet!

I had this event yesterday with the fully updated version via Stardock.

They gave +10 to transport attack.

In my opinion this event is too strong. But I believe the maximum for this event in 1.01 was +20. Was the +10 you had the maximum?

I think this event is nice but it should also make transports more expensive. They should not suddenly become the dreadnoughts of the game.

It doesn't. I've had a few games now in which the transports get 20 attack, and, well, they tend to die fairly quickly either way.

Is this UP vote a workaround so that transports can still continue unescorted? I really would like to have unarmed ships (colony ship, transport, constructor)be somehow escorted. At least to have some chance against a marauding starfighter/corvette of the player (because the IA dont know hit and run tactic).
I'm not asking to add a BC for each transport, but a little defender would goes a long way. Seems like a trivial cost compared to the cost of a constructor, or the time it takes for a 1000 M transport to reach its target.

Well, hehe I kicked the Torians ass with my combat transports (all loaded with 1 million people LOL ). It is good though that they can't attack planets when there are still defenders hovering over them, or else it would have been a very short game. Is it an idea to give them more defense, but no offense?

More defense, no offense would be a very cool change. :)

I agree, it should be a defensive increase instead of an offensive - the effect is similar. A +20 defense would add 10 to their attack value when they were attacked and would keep them from being early game offensive weapons.

Thanks, guys, I've made note of this. :)
