EB Canada says April 7. WHAT!?

Last week, their computer said the 27th, this Thursday. As of tonight, the date was pushed out two weeks! I find this very hard to believe, given that their main web site in the U.S. shows it shipping, and the fact that Strategy First is based in Montréal. If anything, Canadian stores should get it sooner, rather than later, since the usual Customs B.S. is bypassed.

Did I read somewhere that Future Shop will also carry it here? If EB screws up here, I'm not planning to wait until they get their act together...

Yeah, well... mine said the 27th. Last week. Today, their computer said the 7th. I'm hoping they are mightily confused.

That would surprise me given that we have our retail boxes here. Clearly the game is "shipping" to retailers at this point.

My local EB quoted the 7th as the release date today.
This is a trend with some Strategy First releases I'm afraid :notsure:

It's in the US already at local EB's. So I can't see it coming on the 7th in Canada, no way!

Galactic Civilizations has indeed shipped in the U.S. and should be available if not today, then definitely by tomorrow.
As for when this title will be available in Canada, I am waiting for purchase orders from Future Shop, EB Canada and Compucenters.
I am told at least EB Canada's orders will be in latest tomorrow.
I'm not sure when that means the game will hit retail shelves, but my guess is that it will be before April 7th.
I will have more information tomorrow, I will be sure to keep you updated.

Strategy first gave a very prompt response to my e-mail...about 30 min...I'm still waiting on EB Games.

Yeah, it seems to be EB's problem... and I'd be very surprised if we see GalCiv in Canadian EB stores before next week, given the information in the email you posted above.

On that basis, I've ordered the game directly from the U.S. EB web site. I figure it will cost me about CAD 10.00 more after exchange and shipping, but at least I have a good chance of getting a boxed copy by Thursday this way.

If ebgames.com ships mine tonight, I could be playing it tomorrow, too. The USD $17 shipping fee is a bit stiff--but it's FedEx delivery, includes brokerage, and EB covers the taxes.

Misfire, so 39.99$ + 17$ = 56.99$ USD. That is a lot of money in CAD no? About 90$ CAD + duties, about 107$ CAD for the game. Wow! I would wait!

You're not reading what I wrote. That's inclusive... and more in the range of CAD 85 or 86 after exchange.

Yeah, not bad. Like I said, I figure this will only cost me an extra ten bucks compared with buying it from the store. The main reason I didn't go with the direct order from Stardock is that I don't know who they use for shipping, and I didn't see a "download only, keep the CD" option that would save all those cross-border expenses.
