PQ and morale clarification pls

I am trying to get this straight ..

1) Does planet quality ONLY directly effect morale? Meaning does it not effect research, production, econ?
2) Does ONLY Morale directly effect how many people you can have on a particular planet .. as in below a certain morale rating people wont reproduce? Or is PQ a direct factor as well?
3) What does the number of people on a planet directly effect? Production? Research? I notice even when I offload millions of people production doesn't seem to change much, only morale.

Lets pretend you took a class 15 planet and a class 18 planet. With no improvements, the class 18 planet would end up with a lot more people due simply to having a different morale modifier right?
What if the class 15 planet had a load of morale producing items, would the class 15 end up being able to hold as many people as the class 18 planet? Would it produce as much?

I had thought that planet class effected everything across the board ..

As I udnerstand it, it's not so much a morale bonus as a higher population limit.

Class 15 planets have a certain point at which your morale will tank. With higher class planets, that point is higher. So you can have more people on the planet(which means more production all over) before morale becomes an issue.

I don't know if PQ itself gives a production bonus.

A higher PQ rating not only means a higher population maximum, it means having a higher morale than if you were to have the same current population with a lower PQ.

I once tested to see if it affected production/income as well, and it did seem to. Right after building Soil Enrichment on your first planet there is a significant boost in income/production, if I remember correctly.

This is what makes the +15 PQ ability very, very useful despite the 9 point cost. :) That and the fact that the AI won't colonize 13 and 14 PQ planets which will be 15s once you colonize them.
