My ingame brightness is too dark. My control panel settings dont make it brighter,Help!!

Ok, GalCiv is darker than it should be, and its hard for me to make out anomalies and stuff. I have gone to my videocard settings and upped the brightness, but it doesnt work. And unfortunately, there are no brightness settings in GalCiv. Is there anything I can change in a GalCiv data file that would make the game brighter?

well, does your display have buttons so you can adjutst the brightness ? usually they work better than the sliders in display properties....

Gamma adjustment inside the game might be a help yes (I have not seen this option).

I played my first entire game until I realize the "green" sectors on the map were actually black during my second game. I adjusted the brightness and gamma setting in my video card settings and the galaxy now looks so much different AND better! LOL

ya, my gamma settings for direct 3d, video display, desktop, and opengl dont to anything. Nothing I do effects the ingame brightness. There has to be a coded thing in the data files to help me out with this.

DirectDraw tends to reset your video settings, then makes the adjustments the game directs it to. Try downloading a copy of Power Strip. It can override DirectX controls and allows for more precise control over video card settings (even on systems that don't technically support them, like ancient S3 cards on XP, for example)

I had the same problem and I just adjusted my monitor and everything was fine. My other apps were a little brighter, but nothing was washed out, so I didn't need to keep adjusting/unadjusting as I thought I might.

Must remember powerstrip ...
My monitor at home is slowly dying and it's getting harder to see anything.
I didn't realise until i borrowed a 17" TFT that sectors were different bright colours when you show influence :)
