Gold Version?

Just out of curiosity, what exactly *is* the 'gold' version? Will it be available at the same time as the standard version, what will the price be, and what will it include? Or is the gold version simply the final retail version? I couldn't easily find the answer, so I figured someone here could answer this question for me. Thanks!

'Gold' refers to the first release version, so named because the master print disc used to press the mass-production discs is usually gold in color.

Oh.. I visit GoneGold quite a bit (and post there quite a bit as well). I am used go titles *going* gold.. but this has been refered to as the 'gold version' for a while on this board, which was just odd. I've never heard a title called the 'gold' version.. just because it was the final retail version. :D

Confusion arose since there is a SEIV Gold version. I thought perhaps it was a sneaky 4X endeavor!

Yeah.. "gold version" might seem a lil misleading. When you have been here for as long as some of these guys have and have gone through alpha, beta, gamma versions... calling the final one the "gold" version is just another reference label to it's completion state :)

hmm.. did that make sense?

A lot of time a "Gold" version is a re-release of an older title including some new scenerios or perhaps a combination of the orginal game and a expansion pack.

Actually... I thought the "gold" moniker is a reference to the quality of the game. I heard that the beta was considered “silver” and that the other space game I bought last month is “dung”.

Ouch! Sorry, with a week still to wait, I may have too much free time on my hands. ;-)
