Still having "Crash To Desktop"

I still am having problems with the game semi-randomly crashing. About 85% of the crashes occur when I hit the "turn" button, the rest when I finish diplomacy. It will CTD about 5 times per game, no difference between just restarting the game and be-booting before I restart the game. I have the latest GalCiv and I have the latest DX9 from MS. I have 40.72 video drivers and the latest Via drivers for XP home.

It's not going to stop me from playing (very little will), but it is annoying.

Have you tried turning off music? I was crashing semi regularly and finally saw a thread mentioning some issues with certain sound cards. I turned off music and haven't crashed since.

Haven't tried turning off music, never had a problem with my built-in sound (ASUS A7V333). But, I'll try "almost" anything.

I crashed so badly I had to uninstall and then reinstall!

But now it seems ok...
