PC restart while playing galciv then unable to run the game.

Hi,

I brought the game today, and i really do enjoy playing. i brought the gold edition, which includes Altarian Prophecy expansion set.

When i first played, i managed to get about 20 minutes into the game, then my PC restarted and galciv will not run once back in windows. I downloaded the 1.2 update, since stardock does not recognise my cd key for the gold edition ( only the exp set, but even then it says its invalid CD key ). it ran for a little while longer, but again my PC suddenly restarts and galciv wont run.

i was really enjoying this game, anyone know of this problem and how to fix it?

the serial numbers were printed the wrong way round for the gold edition(ie swap GC for AP). does that help?

its really messed up

call me crazy...but i think it happens after a set amount of turns. The restarts are random though, like...ill be doing nowt then it wil restart. I e-mailed the dev but no reply yet.

im going to try the older version of the orgional ( download from this site, but not update it on stardock ) and see how it goes.

i turned off autosave thinking it would help, but no dice.

i get like 3 very fast clicks from the PC before it restarts. I have an expensive system, and i dont get this error on any other game.

Well, If you have a legit serial id, you can download the whole game using Stardock Central

I am not sure to understand what you are meaning. Only the patchs can be downloaded from the site. And I don't know what version you have.

Sorry, I haven't seen this sentence first. You should try to contact support@stardock.com

BTW, I see that you have managed to register a player. So you have a valid serial Id for the metaverse. That is very strange.

this thread is about the cd key for GC Gold. it might help? otherwise email support, as Peace Phoenix suggests. Stardock are very helpful.

Does your serial have the letters GC or AP?

The one with GC is for Galactic Civilization, the one with AP is for Altarian Prophecy.

On some retail boxes these two got interchanged. But I wonder which serial you do have when there is only one on the box?
