Research, Inc Question

This PolParty sounds sweet ..but why is it construed as being for Alliance wins only? I remember reading somewheres that if you culture flip everyone it counts as a Mil victory. Is that true?

It does help only for Aliance wins it has a huge diplomatic bonus but is balanced by weaking the Military.

Not sure about the culture flip question but I think you are correct.

It is aimed to be able to get a victory in January 2190 (there is 50% penalty if finishing earlier). And the only reasonnable winning condition in 2190 fro all kind of maps is alliance win with all remaining major AIs.

You can use this party for all other kind of win. Just remember that you need some military bonus to be on a equal playing fied for space battles with the AI.

BTW, there isn't negative bonus on attack. That way, missiles aren't affected by this party as all others kind of ships.

Yes, since military win means that there isn't longer any major AI. But in this case, be sure to turn off the cultural win option.

:SURPRISED: so, if I don't turn off the Cultural win then if I culture flip the other AI's it'll count as a Cultural Victory? Ok, gotcha!

Thanks guys! :D

Erm, I know this thread started out as a PolParty thread, but I have another question:

I have been reading about "culture bombs" - I take it that thats a culture-module-loaded SB, yes? My question is does said SB have to be a "terror star" thingy as well? Or is that just for offense?

Not so. But chance are that, in order to be able to culture flip all majors AI, you will trigger the countdown for cultural victory (need to have x% of the galaxy with your influence during y turns)

No

No. It is nice to have a fully developped culture starbase that move :)

BTW, culture bombing was overpowerful in previous versions: cultural bonus from different starbases in same sector were multplying instead of adding. Now they add.

Thanks for the info, Peace Man! :D I can't wait to try out the full game ...though I did try the demo on Genius just to see what would happen ..well, it appears I still need to fine tune my strategy ;)
Well, the demo doesn't really allow mods, nor chosing picks at the beginning of the game

I've pulled off successful invasions playing Research Inc before, including my most recent game (Cultural win, large map). Anti-matter missiles are your friends. The "fundamentalists" event eliminating two of the AI players in one turn comes in handy, too.

That game was also my 50th submission :CONGRAT:

Congrats Spacepundit

Now that you have 50 games in perhaps you should look to join an empire? :)

Well, Research.inc doesn't prevent invasion: it just make space combat harder :)

Excuse me, exactly where do you edit it to turn off certain types of victory? I can't seem to find it.

Thanks

Look on the page where you choose the party you want to use. In the bottom middle is a group of four victory conditions. If they are all highlighted, they are all in effect. Simply click on one to turn it on/off.

I think the four options are...

Alien technology Victory
Technology Victory
Alliance Victory
Cultural Victory

Look to the left of the galxy settings area.
Hope this helps.

I don't get that option at all, just the thing about the abundance of habitable planets

What version are you playing?

Thanks for the replies, I worked out what was wrong, by applying the latest patch the options appeared, sorry to cause so much toruble I guess I should have applied it in the first place.

Thanks for all the help :D .

Yeah I use the military setting only with occassionally turning on alliance wins. Works great for getting a higher score with nothing checked. :)
